I had the older version use to work fine with google play, now it does not. I tried to buy it to support the program and to check if it worked with the new google play but Im getting this error when trying to buy:

Yeah sorry, I still have some small issues with the groovemarklet, I've already fixed the Soundcloud problem but I haven't brought out the update yet. Before I bring it out however, I need to add versions and proper automatic updating to the groovemarklet, and you won't have these kinds of problems anymore. I'll let you know when this update is done.

Google Music might have been updated, because Groovemarklet stopped working - always showing "No song playing", no matter what. And consequently SMG is not working with Google Music :)

Yep, you can go to the "edit output" tab, and you can put a few spaces into the "after" field.
It's astonishing to see how often these players get updated :|
A fix is on the way regardless.
I currently do not have access to a computer running windows. When I do however, I will do the following things:
- Take a look at what's happening with Spotify for some people
- Fix YouTube
- Fix SoundCloud
- Move Groovemarklet to a location where I can fix Groovemarklet remotely. I'll also add a version number. This all will result in faster updates and fewer problems with the Groovemarklet. Good stuff.

Is there any way to split up the info into separate files. Like song info in one, artist in another, album in another. I know Snip! could do this, and it was useful. Just bought this by the way, worth $5, thanks for getting something working. I think snip was open source, so maybe you could look at it to see what they were doing?

looks like the snip guy is about to release version5.0 which fixes the spotify issue as well.
In fact he has a commit i guess you could compile and have working right now, but I dont know how to do that stuff lol.
Side note-If you are using X-Split instead of OBS you can filter the text file to remove the album name.

Can anyone confirm that this now works with Spotify? The newest Spotify update broke SMG 1.62, I managed to get it to work again by rolling back the Spotify update but it was only temporary, SMG is now broken again. I'm willing to spend the money on SMG 2.0 but what are the chances it works or will continue to work?
I'm guessing also that any SMG before 2.0 will no longer receive updates?

Yes that's true. When you say "very, very basic" what do you mean? Because the free SMG I've used until now has been, well... very, very basic. Not a bad thing, it has done exactly what I wanted, but I don't see how it could be anything but basic if you get what I mean.

Well, it will give you one txt file that contains artist, album, and song. That's it. You cant split them into separate text files or get album artwork or use hotkeys to control spotify. Thats what i mean. This does support a lot of players, but it is pretty limited in functionality. I was using snip so this is my first experience with SMG.

"On Windows, the title bar shows you which song is playing."
And, indeed, if i hover my mouse on the spotify icon, the name of the title bar is the name of the song.
This could mean that any issue with Spotify might be a thing of the past.
Unfortunately, im not home to confirm this.
Can any1 confirm this?
