I will pay you if you fix my microstutters when recording, not in game.

Yep, that works. Triple Buffering can be enabled with v-sync on & there also may be a "Fast" setting for v-sync. What were you running them at before the switch? My settings

Glad I found this thread. I've been experiencing video stuttering (whether previewing or recording) for a while now and can't seem to fix it.

I only record 2-3 minute videos and still see one or two stutters. (log file here) Even the log file makes it seem like i only dropped a handful of frames or something but I can't figure out how to remedy that.

I run an i7-13700KF and a 4070 Ti along with 64GB of RAM. I used NVMe SSD's as well. (WD PC SN560 is my OS and primary save file for OBS recordings and I've also tried saving to a WD_BLACK SN850X)
I use a Razer Kiyo Pro webcam plugged directly into the back of my PC.
I've tried swapping the Hz anywhere from 60 to 165 on my single monitor.

I know about the warning for the mismatched audio sampling but i'm not certain how that could be the issue/related.

I tried enabling VSYNC as mentioned above, and ran another test. What I find interesting is that having the stats window open, it shows zero frames skipped or missed due to rendering/encoding lag (so i guess i can rule those out?)
1701185353691.png

But the log shows I lost 13 frames (which I saw happen in the preview window)
1701185441089.png

So I guess this rules out my rendering and encoding settings, so it must be something else, right?

Assuming the sample rate mismatches have been corrected, your log is clean but you need to set your monitor @ 120HZ. There will always be stuttering with it at 144 as frames need to be dropped.

I noticed this above.
I used NVMe SSD's as well. (WD PC SN560 is my OS and primary save file for OBS recordings and I've also tried saving to a WD_BLACK SN850X)

Write to the 850X, it has DRAM & is far more robust than the 560.

Awesome. I've set my monitor to 120Hz and writing to the 850X. Thank you very much!

OK you guys made me want to take a second look at it. Thanx and i will let know my progression in this!
I even have the problem when not recording, just in the preview screen.

Update:

Tried these settings, then recorded:
Main monitor 165Hz set to ->120Hz
Second monitor 59.97Hz set to ->60Hz
Both set using custom resolution utility.
OBS video: 1080p60 both canvas and export.
V-sync = on in Nvidia settings.
For the test i write to my main M.2 SSD.

In this folder you can see my 2 recording tests in 1080p60 18000Kbps.
Also, i have uploaded my log there.
It does not matter if i run my main montor single with 60Hz or some other setting, stutter still stays.
If i record with my laptop and a capturecard, also the same stutter occurs.

I am really hoping that someone sees something that i don't see.

^^ You have rendering lag, GPU is overloaded. Crap in > Crap out......

Post your logs through OBS, I'm not going back to your drive.

Excuse me for not posting it the right way.
I hope this is the way you meant and that the link works.
I first uploaded the most recent file and copy pasted that link right here.

I am new to uploading logs, thanks for the tip.

GPU overloaded, that's weird (in my opinion)
I have turned down skyrim and OBS to a good 720p60 and it was still the same.
Thanx again for pushing people the right direction, i really aprecciate your help.
I am going to look into the attempted-drawn frames rendering lag issue.
This is new for me so i will take my time to understand it.

So no rendering lag in that log but it appears your entire system may be getting overloaded. I didn't see any sample-rate mismatches but your audio is lagging real bad.

Reduce in game settings & set your main monitor @ 60HZ. Let's try to get rid of the stuttering first. If/when it's gone, you can test 120HZ on the main monitor.

You will get a higher quality recording using CQP & less bits will be wasted.

So here's the new log after setting my main to 60hz,
Skyrim set : 2560x1440 -> 1920x1080p, Ultra -> Low.

To try, i set my OBS canvas to 2560x1440 and Export is still 1080p.
While recording and trying the game, the GPU and CPU did not exceed 45% of usage.
I don't know about the encoder.

Still got that nasty audio lag, something is wrong somewhere in the pipeline. Could be as simple as a driver but OBS is not causing the stuttering, it's all up stream.

In Forza Motorsport i did some more testing and logging.
2560x1440p in game, high grapics.
While the skipped frames are almost none here, the preview window almost makes me dizzy.

I will take a look at that audio issue and report here.
Again, thank you very much for your effort!
I have evening-school now, so i won't be able to look into it today, probably tomorrow.
Will be continued.
