Source is still lagging, try Display Capure, lets see if this improves...

Another potential issue is your RAM or lack of. Windows 10 needs 4GB just to run & your system only has 8. I'm sure your Virtual Memory is getting hammered.

I don't have another drive laying around and I don't want to buy a new one. I'm happy enough with the current results, if I don't record for too long I get smooth 60 fps 90% of the time. Which means I can only record for 1-2 minutes per video though, but it's good enough for the stuff I'm trying to record. One thing for certain is my problem has been improved from when I started this post. Anyways, thanks again for helping.

That sounds like it's your SSD. Being in a laptop, it's geared more towards power savings than performance & more than likely lacks DRAM. Drive performance will drop as it fills up but if you keep plenty of free space on the drive it should perform better. Can you write to an HDD so you can let Virtual Memory do it's thing on the OS drive?

Any luck with changing the capture method? The stat info is at the very bottom of the log file but you need to close/reopen OBS to get the info.

I do have an SD card I could use, too bad my laptop doesn't have a slot for it. I could buy a really cheap adapter which is worth a try. As for the capture method, I couldn't get game capture to work on Roblox no matter what. I'll just get black screen. I read from other forum posts related to this saying to change the graphics API of the game which I tried but causes the game to crash. Your other capture method suggestions doesn't solve the issue either.

As long as it can write fast enough & sustain it over a period of time, it should work.

Bummer that the other capture methods didn't help to cut down on that lag. I wonder if Roblox has something to do with it? Have you tried capturing a different game or just video?

My SD card has 130 mbps write speed with 256gb storage, is that good enough for 500mb - 1gb footages?

As for trying other games, I'm able to get BeamNG Drive to work on game capture, but I don't see a difference between game and windowed mode. The lag is still an issue.

You may have already been through this but if not, check to see if there may be a conflict running on your system.

Not for my recordings but possible for yours. Check the bit-rate of your recordings, you're using CQP.
I can't see my bitrate but my CQP is at 17 which is considered high but not very high. My 40 second recording is 500mb and for the purpose of what I'm doing, I don't need to record for over a minute most of the time.

I have a built in card reader, recorded to a 40MB/s SD card. SD card is formatted as FAT32 so 4GB max file size. Format your card to NTFS for files larger than 4GB.

Here the link to MediaInfo, I used it in the post above.

My desktop has an SD card slot. Recorded 30 sec 600mb footage and I don't get issues. My desktop isn't meant for gaming though, that's why I use my laptop.

Back to the laptop. How about dropping down to 720p? Hate to recommend it since your GPU is more than capable of 1080p but with only 8GB of RAM, it may be worth a try. Set Base & Canvas resolution to 720p if you give it a go.

I tried 720p, no difference. I decided to just play the game without obs open and recording. My memory usage is at 72% and I get fps lag. I think the issue is with my laptop now. It wasn't always like this, months ago I was able to play the same game at 200 fps.
