Replay Source

Replay Source 1.8.1

I am experiencing consistent crashes every 2-3 minutes in OBS. I have tried both OBS 32.0.0 and OBS 31.0.0 (which I was told was the compatible version), but the crashes persist in Normal Mode even after a clean deinstall and reinstall of the older version.

Environment:

  • OBS Version: 31.0.0 (and 32.0.0)
  • Plugin: Instant Replay (latest version)
  • Behavior: OBS "survives" for about 120-180 seconds and then crashes to desktop.
I am desperate to get this stable for my tournament. Could you please look at my crash report to see if there is a specific conflict I can resolve?

For a local sports channel we are considering a set up of a Mac Pro 2019 (96 GB of RAM) with a BlackMagicdesign Declinck PCI card containing 4 SDI inputs for use in OBS Studio (1080p60). All 4 inputs need to be used as a replay source too, so I am certainly interested in this Replay Source plugin. I noted that the creator of the plugin is based in the same country as I am, so that builds confidence. :D And from what I have read about the plugin, most users love it.

My question to current users is: is this plugin stable enough to use it in the above scenario, or should I look into a more "professional" set up with dedicated hardware? Our budget is small so this looks like a viable option for us.

Any thoughts are appreciated!

Hi

Yes, it's stable and is exactly what you need. I only use windows.

Explanation for1 cam setup. Then you just do it for 4 cams.

My main scene is with cam 1
Then I have a Goal Replay Scene with a Replay source using cam 1 and clips 10 seconds. Set this source to went back to main scene when finished playing the clip. Clip is also saved in goal folder, further use.

Now I have a Long Replay Scene with a Replay source at 15 seconds and another Short Replay Scene at 8 seconds.

For every input you have, you can do this.

4 cams, 4 scenes with video input
One Replay scene for every amount of seconds on every scene.

Let's say you have cam 1 as main cam and cam 2 and 3 as goal cams. Setup hotkey to make Replay of both cam 1 and 2, so if a goal you can Replay from both cam 1 and 2, and again with cam 1 and 3. If cam 4 us a zoom cam, then do it also with this. Then on goal you can Replay from 3 cams.

There at no limit at all. I can make a document that show you the setup

Thank you so much Jesper, love your detailed reply! If you have a document of the set up available that would be fantastic. Do you also use the OBS multiview for switching the cameras?

I currently use a Yolobox Extreme, and while I really appreaciate the versatility and ease of use of the device, the picture quality is lacking a little for broadcasting in my view.

I need to buy all the hardware so I can't test it myself at the moment. On paper the Mac Pro + Decklink PCIe cards + OBS with plugins sound great, but that is on paper and I could easily forget something crucial. Some people on this forum state that the plugin might crash, and I understand that there is no 100% guarantee that it won't because it is software. But at least some real world experience does help me a lot!

In the next days i will make a document. Maybe it's better if i email you the document.
Earlier it could crash, but today i have no crash. BUT i use windows. Don't know if it crashes on mac.

I have an Intel I5 14400F on a gamer motherboard, GPU is RTX 5060TI 16 GB and 16 gb ddr4 3200mhz. That works perfect .

But I want a BM decklink one day ;-)

I do not use multiview for that. I use Source Dock plugin to show what is on cam 2,3,4.... because i can dock only the cam source, and then i use a streamdeck to switch between everything. A streamdeck xl is a MUST have. But multiview also works great if this is the way you will do it.

By the way. Have checked the Yolobox Extreme. It's a very expensive piece of hardware. BlackMagic declink is a much better solution. As i read it, Yolobox is only a "smarter" video switcher, with 2 hdmi output. You have to switch cam on the yolobox and this goes into OBS. If it has usb-c output as webcam signal, then this goes into obs and you have only 1 cam in obs at a time

With the declink you have 4 cams into obs, and can show all 4 at the same time. Yolobox Extreme touch screen is acting the same way as OBS Multiview.

In danish kr it cost 19.000 and a declink cost 4300, and a free OBS ;-)
