obs not working: starting the output failed please check your drivers are up to date

Hi!

I have tried everything I have seen to make OBS work but it keeps saying the same thing in the title. I have updated my drivers, uninstalled then reinstalled, checked for windows updates, checked compatibility, checked my settings, checked if my hard drive needed optimization, gone into my settings to change my graphics settings, etc.

Also, the screen isn't black when i try to record, like I can see my screen and everything or like a game I am trying to capture, but it still doesn't work.

Run the Auto-configuration Wizard (tool menu) and apply the settings it gives. Do NOT change anything.
Restart OBS (!important)
Now test as is. Please do NOT change anything.
If all goes well, you can test changing the quality preset for a better quality.

Your done.

Do not use advanced output.

Okay, I did as you instructed and it said the same thing. Am I missing something?

Thank you for your help btw :)

Probably is trying to use the iGPU intead of the GPU.

Make sure you're using the GPU and not the iGPU in the system.
If it's correctly set, try reintalling the driver: https://obsproject.com/forum/resources/performing-a-clean-gpu-driver-installation.65/

The MacAfee malware isn't helping either. You should uninstall it. As long as you have a safe behaviour online you don't need any other antivirus than the windows one. If you do need another antivirus, you may want to try malwarebytes as it's way less intrusive.

Yep. Take a look at the specs, hardware encoding doesn't appear to be supported by either the GPU or iGPU.

You also currently have (2) different drivers installed, only need 1. A new driver was released on 1/23 (24.1.1), it won't enabled encoding but it seemed to work well in a system we were working on earlier this week & may help speed up decoding.

Specs & driver available here:

Hi!

I'm sorry, I don't seem to be understanding. I downloaded the new driver just now, the one that came out on 1/23/24. it is still not working, is there something I am missing? also I cannot seem to find the location in the obs application where it allows me to select my GPU.

Unfortunately, you're going to have to use the x264 encoder with the current configuration as hardware encoding is not supported by either device.

Just an FYI, the iGPU is still showing the old driver in the new log. DDU might be needed to completely remove it from the system.
