These instructions are extremely speci00000000000000000,fic to your brand and model of GPU so I would not advise everyone just updating with that particular bios or even doing so unless there is an issue with multiple things in your card. BIOS updates can make or break and you really need to be confident in your skills and have a dual bios card.
i already flashed a XFX bios on my GPU, no problem, but you right, its a risk...
but you can send a message to your gpu manufacturer support and get a new and correct bios for your card.

maybe the problem is BIOS related, because in my factory bios i could record on Raptr without problems, but some time ago i asked Sapphire support for a updated bios, lost my backup and now i have this problem...

now i sent a request for a new bios, maybe they can send the factory bios and i can test.
ps: sry for my bad english

EDIT: yes, its bios
i flashed the bios from this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KunSDzUBmr0

no more bsod or crash :)
in atiflash use
Code:
atiflash -s 0 original.bin
to backup your bios.

use
Code:
atiflash -p -f 0 253T04H0.O45
to flash the bios.

profit
the bios is from sapphire but i think its works on your vga
maybe im wrong, so ask a new bios to your gpu manufacturer

Can't find a powercolor bios anywhere I'm not going to just use some random bios from a youtube video or flash my bios just because this program isn't working.

Just a quick question since I haven't been able to locate an answer.

I have an A10-6800 APU, and a 7870 as my discreet. What I'd like to do is leverage the unused 8670D on my APU for streaming but I can't seem to sort out how to make it happen... I've attached an image with my current OBS settings, and the log where it's showing that it's still using device 0.

Thanks in advance for any help.

I dont think AMF can utilize the extra device ID but all the number for your two GPUs are in the logfile. you might be able to specify the APU then switch the GPU in the display tab of OBS settings, but I doubt this all will work yet.

Hey guys. I just bought a R9 380 yesterday and immediately found out about OBS, specifically this branch. I've been trying to stream using VCE but so far it's been impossible.

First, I tried raptr. It flatout did not work. Pressing the shortcut to stream to twitch does literally nothing (it stays "Twitch Offline") so then I tried OBS. It almost works but there's a huge problem: the system freezes in less than a minute (but not the audio), i can still move the mouse for a while but eventually freezes too. Are these common issues here? Is this impossible to get working?

just like everyone else in this forum you ned to post a logfile when requesting assistance. you can find it in the help menu. post the logfile where you attempted to stream and it froze. did the game freeze or the recording?

Oh, I'm sorry. That didn't even cross my mind, I'm just very frustrated that I can't get either to work.

did the game freeze or the recording?

The entire PC, except the audio.

Is this it?

EDIT: I just found out something

I tried raptr again but this time with rocket league and it worked wonders. And guess what? OBS also worked! The difference here is that Rocket League is a DX9 game while Alien Isolation is DX11. Might this be the cause? Is this just driver related?

EDIT 2: Nope, that's not the issue. I just tried Natural Selection DX9 and DX11 and they both worked. It's weird that the only games where OBS crashes my PC are the games that Raptr doesn't work with namely: Metal Gear Solid V Ground Zeroes, Payday 2, Alien Isolation, GTA 5

EDIT 3: Well, scratch that. Raptr doesn't work with anything. Yes, some games report that they are streaming but nothing actually shows up on twitch. Still what I said in my edits is still partially true. The games that report being streamed work fine with OBS VCE while games such as Payday 2 only last for a minute before my PC freezes

Did the BIOS increase your clock speeds? I don't know why mine are so low compared to yours, mine is a turboduo powercolor.

My BIOS version also seems to be newer.

i think so from what i remember mine was 1100-1500MHz on the shop bought bios (Ati Brand)

Hi everyone, whats the best settings for vce 1 (7950) 720p60 4k bitrate, windows 10 driver 15.7.1? Already tested with xsplit 2.3 version, its give me a perfect picture, but this version ignore any bitrate setting with a bit stutteringin video. With obs vce i cant get a good quality, its looking like such fastest preset for cpu, and this gpu load while in idle make me cry, its around 10% on full clocks.

Hey guys,

So before I was having issues with my streaming quality, it seemed to be rubber-banding so to speak, I posted some videos here a few pages back.

Well anyway I just decided to try and mess with random settings in OBS to see if anything would fix it, since I had tried some of dping's suggestions to no avail. I messed with a bunch of things in the VCE tab, still no change. Then just for the hell of it I checked "Use AMD AMF instead of OVE" under the Encoding tab, and voila, crystal clear streaming quality!

All this was at 30 fps. I briefly tried running at 60, but I was dropping frames. After a while I started getting really bad hitching in-game, even though I was at a steady 80FPS in-game. I still need to optimize my settings for 60 fps, apparently.

Anyway, I just want to share with you guys that I made somewhat of a breakthrough, I know at least one other person was having a similar sounding problem with the quality "rubber-banding."

Just for the hell of it I'll post my logfile. Beware, it's a long one though.

Quick one, I posted before, like months ago, but I'm wondering if there's any additional tricks and tips people have found since. I've read through (and searched), but it seems to be more posts around errors or streaming tips.

Recording totally locally, not streaming, space is not an issue. 1080 at 30 FPS, (GL getting constant 60 on DayZ), but I left my bitrate at 50000 which is the recommended for 60 as I play other games too.

So far the recordings look great, but I'm wondering if I can squeeze anything more out or get less of a FPS hit (which isn't too much granted, like 5-10 fps drop). Been testing Raptr too, which isn't all that bad tbh. Just prefer OBS.

50000/50000 buffer and bitrate
Use CBR, padding and buffer size ticked.
Max QP of 41 (seems less pixelated that way, playing DayZ/Arma and sometimes with all the greens it will pixellate. Seems good on 41 and saw somewhere it's best for that over 51?)
GOP 60
IDR 0 (I had this set to 30, but doesn't seem to make a huge difference)
Rate control method is peak constrained VBR, but I have 'use CBR' ticked in Encoding. Should I change this, or are any of the other 3 options better? Maybe constrained QP?
AMD AMF settings are Balanced and 'host'

Haven't really messed with anything in the OpenEncoder settings, like the search range stuff. IIRC I did change a bit, but only based on a screenshot someone uploaded of their settings which was ''good''. Same with the ''Advanced'' tab, anything in there worth changing? x264 Preset is superfast, encoding profile is high, Use CFR ticked, custom encoder settings is Intra-refresh=true. Not even sure if any of that is valid really for AMF.

Anything I can change, or any other settings I haven't listed that would help?

Thanks for helping me out! Half of this is like a foreign language to a peasant like myself haha

@RifleEyez, look at this carefully. ;)

Is that for Streaming, or Local recording? The first image looks like a streaming Bitrate? The rest actually look pretty similar to mine, which is encouraging. Thank you!

Also, I'm not sure if I should change the AMD AMF settings from Host to DX11 or DX9, or is that nothing to do with the game itself?

Also, is there anything I can do with the QP settings (to anyone)?. I was testing, and when I had min/max QP at 41 (purely for science), it was blocky as hell. This got my interest as DayZ suffers from quite a bit of pixellation from time to time when recording, happens to the best of em, so is there any way I can tailor these settings? Currently have 16 min, 41 max. Remember, i'm recording locally so not streaming.

I also have one more question for people.

Sometimes when I record, it's 20 minutes, fine, fluid, no errors. Other times it will freeze on a frame on video for like 3-4 minutes, then it will switch and show another part of the video frozen. And again. And again. Till the end. I can still hear the audio though with no breaks?

Any ideas? It's a shame, because I like OBS, but I had no issues with Raptr (despite the lack of options which improves the quality). It's just far to awkward and risky to hit record, have some great gameplay, then find out it's randomly decided to freeze frame for minutes at a time.

I seem to keep getting the ''High CPU encoding'' message in red from time to time, sometimes it works perfectly fine, other times it doesn't?
