Need help with OBS settings for Twitch – DBD stream gets super pixelated during fast movements

Hey everyone,

I’ve been struggling with my Twitch stream quality and I can’t seem to figure out the issue. I’m streaming Dead by Daylight with OBS, and during fast movements (especially when I turn quickly), the stream becomes so pixelated that you can barely even see my facecam anymore.

I know that DBD is a tough game to stream because of the dark scenes, fog, and the Twitch bitrate limit, and I also know that every stream will lose some quality when there’s a lot of movement. But in my case it feels much worse than what I see on other people’s streams.

Here are my current settings https://imgur.com/a/6JWZTYT (Screenshots from my Settings all in one) :

  • Base (Canvas) Resolution: 2560x1440
  • Output (Scaled) Resolution: 1920x1080
  • FPS: 60
  • Encoder: NVENC H.264
  • Rate Control: CBR, 8000kbps
  • Keyframe Interval: 2s
  • Preset: P7
  • Profile: High
  • B-frames: 2
  • Lookahead: ON
  • Adaptive Quantization: ON
  • Custom options: aq-strength=15 psy=1 psy-rd=1.0

My PC should be powerful enough (RTX 3080, Ryzen 5900X, 32GB RAM), and I don’t get in-game FPS drops or encoder overload warnings. The problem is really just that the stream looks awful when moving fast compared to others.

Has anyone experienced this with DBD specifically? Are my settings fine, or is there something I’ve overlooked that could help reduce this extreme pixelation?

Thanks a lot in advance – any advice or comparisons with your own settings would be super appreciated

Im Clueless an out of ideas. Anybody sees anything that i cant see? PLEASE...

Encoding time can cause pixelation on fast frame change, like high movement content.

That's why sometimes is better using a lower preset, to reduce encoding time.

P7 is the worst on encoding time.
