Downstream Keyer

Downstream Keyer 0.4.4

Hey, i have the DSK plugin and i want to sync the normal dock and the altium one, there is a way to do it?

Hi!

I use this plugin, but, I can't insert and remove the scene without a defined time.

How can I make this?
You mean, how can you show or hide the overlay at a predefined time? It's not exactly clear what you're asking.

If my guess is right, then you could use the Advanced Scene Switcher plugin, to send a hotkey to this one in response to anything you want. System time, scene with delay, audio volume, etc. The hotkey doesn't need to be defined, so as to take up space on the keyboard; Adv. SS can trigger any function that *could* be assigned to a hotkey, even if it isn't.

Hi!
I recently added DSK to my OBS and it's causing it to crash. I looked for other causes, but none came up, so I uninstalled DSK and it fixed. Some reason for this happening or its just the plug in?

Hello, I recently started using Downstream Keyer to do sound effects for videos and streams, but the effects don't play until I switch scenes. I've tried adjusting settings, uninstalling re-installing, but the issue is still there, dose anyone have any suggestions?

Seems to me like that ought to work, but it also feels like an X-Y problem.

If you're on Linux, I'd recommend this instead, running outside of OBS and possibly in its own dedicated real estate. Could be a separate machine, or its own screen on the same machine, preferably with touch either way.
It also receives MIDI and OSC messages for automation, and the Advanced Scene Switcher plugin for OBS can send both.
So that might be an option if you *have* to control everything from inside OBS...and if you have a Linux box to run it. There *might* be an equivalent for M$ Spyware, but I don't know of one.
And of course there's audio routing too, that you have to think about. How to connect the audio output from one app to the audio input of another. It's getting easier now than it used to be, but you do still have to stop and think through what's going on.

With all of that said though, Separation of Duties allows each thing to be optimized for its own job with fewer compromises, and that usually ends up working better anyway...if you have the real estate. Desk or screen space, either one.
Another case in point for Separation of Duties: if you have more than just one or two external apps with audio to feed into OBS, stick a third thing in the middle to receive EVERYTHING (including what OBS used to do by itself), mix it all there, and give OBS a finished soundtrack to pass through unchanged as its only audio source at all.

sounds to me that you have the tie option enabled...
What does that do, anyway? I don't see any explanation besides the 3-letter name, and even that's on a mouseover popup, not normally shown. So it's effectively just a random unlabelled checkbox.

I guess that is what happens when you follow an outdated tutorial.
The trouble is, they're ALL outdated. Based on old versions at the very least, and often made by people who don't really know much themselves but found *A* way to make something work. Whether that's the way that the developers intended, is another question, and that mismatch often leads to, "You **** broke my rig!" on almost every major release.

But with the lack of actually-proper documentation, and a dev team that doesn't update their internal spec sheet for what people are actually doing with it (which is often based on tutorials that are effectively, "how to hack it like I did"...), that's just what happens.

I'm on a Mac - the installer put a file downstream-keyer.plugin.dSYM in the plugins folder and there's no plugin to be found.
Anyone have ideas that might help me?

Hi @Exeldro,

I am having a strange issue with DSK and I was hoping you could help me resolve it.
So for starters I use DKS for one global scene that I use to apply green screen effects and programs like Tangia. About 2 weeks ago I did a total reset of OBS and re-setup everything. My problem right now is every time I start OBS I get the weird "Hey OBS didn't shutdown correctly" popup (even though I just closed the window like normal). Then with DSK the global scene keeps getting unselected:

Now this wouldn't be the biggest issue, but it also happens sometimes while I am live and I'll have to reselect it to make it work again and sometimes switch to the global scene.
I also I think it's doing something weird with the SE.Live vertical canvas. As sometimes I'll play a greenscreen on the global scene that has audio and after I toggle the source off the OBS audio mixer doesn't remove the green screen's audio source so it never fully shuts down so when I trigger it again it doesn't restart the playback. Not sure if you're aware of any issues there?

Any idea how I can get DSK to stop unselecting my global scene?

Hi @Exeldro
I work on an OBS theme (just edit) and I would like to be able to customize the icons of your great DSK plugin, independently of those in OBS. Any chance how I could achieve that?
Thank you!

Hello!

I have two scene selections I use in OBS Studio (32.0.4). The Downstream Keyer (latest version) works fine in one scene collection. But when I switch to another scene collection, it doesn't work.

For example, I use Social Ninja Chat to display featured chat comments using the DSK.
In scene collection A: In the DSK window, the scene stays highlighted every time I open that scene collection and the DSK works fine no problems.
In scene collection B: I can add a scene to DSK window, but when I click it, it won't highlight. The only way I can highlight it is if I click the empty "tie" square and then click on it. But then it still doesn't work and I can only delete it from the DSK window.

It's the same function for both scene collections: using featured chat in DSK.

I've closed OBS and opened it to scene selction B...still doesn't work. I can switch to scene selection A from B and A works fine. I can close OBS with A open, reopen OBS and A works fine.

Am I doing something wrong?
