Hey guys,

I'm not sure what I'm missing, but I'm using "Nvidia's Background Removal" or "Virtual Screenscreen" to mask, then composite blur to blur my background with the 'effect mask' feature and its creating a halo around the mask.

Any idea's how to resolve this?

Thanks

Hi Soleous-

That is an artifact of how OBS composites sources. The blur algorithm has no way to know what source is "under" the source you're blurring, so it blurs in blank (0, 0, 0, 0 color) pixels, which shows up as a dark halo.

However, this is what the "Composite Background" option is for. If you provide the source that is behind your masked source in this field, it will use those color values to blur in, getting rid of the dark halo. (Some documentation on this is about 2/3 of the way down the plug-in page). Please let me know if you have any issues using it.

Hi there.

I'm currently working on an update, however even the older version should work fine with OBS 31. Can you please provide an OBS log file, and I can check to see what the issue might be?
I also tried installing it with OBS version 31. No success.
Then I tried to install it with OBS 30 and 29. The plugin wasn't shown to me there either.

I use a Macbook with an M2 chip.

I have attached the log file.
I'm probably doing something wrong, as no other plugins are displayed in OBS.

Hi Fabian-

Apologies for the delayed response. It looks like you've installed the x86_64 version of the plugin. Your mac requires either the universal install, or the arm64 install (both of which should be included with the zipped download files). Try using either the `obs-composite-blur-1.1.0-macos-arm64.pkg` or the `obs-composite-blur-1.1.0-macos-universal.pkg`, and let me know if that helps.

Here is the second new feature release of the Composite Blur plugin. Huge thanks to the many, many people who have downloaded and used the plugin. Why am I getting a severe virus threat from Windows Defender when I try to download this update??

Anyone else getting this?
Its an unfortunate side effect of windows defender, and that heuristic virus detection almost always flags an installer as potentially a threat. Typically these virus flags pop for random people's installs for the first several days after release, and then after enough people have installed that don't get the flag and there are no issues, it goes away. Even with a software signing certificate, this still seems to happen.

Thank you for letting me know. Any chance you could screen shot the alert you're seeing, and DM it to me? then I can submit that info to Microsoft as a false positive, and they usually clear it up in a day or two.

Also, if you are comfortable with a zip install, you can give that a try, as it only seems to be the installer itself that has these false positives. Or wait a few days (especially if you can get me that screen shot) and it should clear up.
