Could it be possible in the future to allow this filter to be applied to a group with a camera inside, a source of a scene of the camera, or to a scene clone? I'd like to have two identical cameras but only apply this filter to one of them but unless I can apply it to a group with the camera, a source of a scene of the camera, or a source clone of the camera it won't apply the filter.

If this is possible already let me know how to do it!! Thank you :)

@BradyDaLlama the latest release 0.5.16 should allow to apply this filter to any source including groups - did you try it and it failed? if it fails - please submit an issue https://github.com/royshil/obs-backgroundremoval/issues so we can track it and fix it, thanks!

@hooxdini unfortunately there's no way to add this as an a/v filter, it's strictly an effect filter.
however - explain what is the need for it to be an a/v filter? is there something you cannot do with it being an effect filter?

I have also manually installed the background removal plugin/filter on OBS Windows 64-bit 29.0.2. It is not showing up in either Audio/Video or Effects filters.

I'm not a programmer, so I don't see the benefit of installing it manually, so I would encourage you to go to downloads at the top of this page and download the latest version for your machine. Since I had typed this post Roy has made it with an installer prior to recently you had to do it manually....perhaps you didn't see that? Good luck!

@malbert69 if this is a persistent issue - please submit a ticket at https://github.com/royshil/obs-backgroundremoval/issues and we will track this behavior
it seems to work on out test systems and many of the users, so this potentially could be an edge case
getting logs from OBS is going to be very helpful to debug and fix your problem

Hi, I was wondering if anyone could help me with this?

I tried both the zip file and the .exe file. I can't seem to find the filer in the list through OBS. I am running OBS 29.0.2

Is there any way to change the color of the background on M1 mac? I don't see the option in the settings on OBS. Trying to turn the background green for green screen

@Rhettre we've removed the background color option. now it's always going to give you a transparent background (which you can place over whatever other content) or - a blurred background that you can control with the bottom slider

royshilkrot updated Background Removal / Portrait Segmentation / Virtual Green-screen with a new update entry:

v0.5.17 - Revamped rendering, linux fixes, faster and more robust

So many new things in this release! that make it overall a more robust and faster plugin.

  • Revamped rendering pipeline that is leaner and faster and relies on the GPU.
  • Won't hog the CPU if the video/filter is hidden or disabled.
  • Using pre-built ONNX runtime packaged
  • Fixing linux builds all around for Fedora, Arch, openSUSE etc.
As always if you like and find value in our work, consider supporting us:

Hello - I just installed the 0.5.17 version. Watching older videos on this filter people can choose a green background. I am not seeing that option in this release. Did I install it wrong? Or was it removed? Also, when I apply the filter, it freezes around a spot, and if I move, there's just a hole there looking at my background...not to where I moved to...

@Xavier_Gregory noup you're not installing it wrong - we removed the green background in favor of a true transparent background. you can compose the video now with whatever background you want without having to add a chroma key filter in addition

i'm not sure whats going on with the filter freezing, so please feel free to submit an issue https://github.com/royshil/obs-backgroundremoval/issues with information like screenshots, OS, OBS version, logs and we will try to resolve the problem

I just posted a bug related to ChromaKey.
The way you explain the new "feature" of true transparent background, it seem it interract with normal operation of the ChromaKey filter in the Camera., plz look at this video explaining the bug. Youtube Video Explaining bug
@GeneticWolf are you using the background removal plugin? or just the built-in chroma key filter?
to me it looked like you're not using our plugin filter, so it must be a problem with the chroma key filter

This doesn't seem to work at all so I'm doing something wrong, but the line jumps constantly, there is no transparency option, it looks REALLY bad, and there doesn't seem any way to manipulate this plugin in a way that works. Putting this in front of a gif just makes the image pop in and out constantly. Settings are (in order) .5, .5, 1.00, 0.00 CPU MediaPipe, 1, 0.
