Thinking about my above comment, if you added the countdown name field as an array, couldn't you change each of the UI field variables into arrays indexed by the countdown name index? That way other than the addition of the countdown name field to the UI, the layout of the UI would remain the same? Just a thought...Thanks again!
 
I'm really liking this plugin. I'd love to be able to punch a button on my StreamDeck that sets a specific countdown time - 10 minutes, say, and another button to start the countdown. Is there an easy way to integrate that sort of StreamDeck interaction with your plugin?
 
This pluggin is nice :)

A couple of suggestions, based on my personal use of it :

I use the timer only on my intro scene. It's very nice to have it make it switch the scene at the end of the timer. That is really phenomenal. But when hitting zero, the timer doesn't auto-reset. It would be nice to have that option, so that we don't have to manually reset it every use/stream.
It would also be nice if we had the option to make it automatically start with the selection of the scene. So that we don't have to double bind the same key for the scene selection and the starting of the timer, as it is the only way I found rn to have it start as I'm selecting the intro scene while starting my stream.

Rn I'm using the same keybinds for starting the timer and selecting the intro scene, then I binded the same key to pause it that I also use for a scene I'm sure to use within every stream, so it "automatically" pauses before I use it again, and I also binded the reset button to my starting timer and intro scene key, so I have to double hit the key to have it reset and then play, but it's manageable, just not the best.

But these are just suggestions, I have no clue if it's even possible, and in any case the pluggin is really nice as is, thanx a lot for the work :)

In the meantime you can bind a keyboard key to the pluggin buttons in OBS, and bind those to your streamdeck, maybe ? I don't own a streamdeck myself but thought it might help, if it's an option, not sure. Then you just have to put in the 10min time countdown, and it will reset with one key on your deck and start with another. Maybe even the same key, as I personnally tried to bind the same keyboard key to all the buttons (play, pause, reset), and it happens to be quite logical in its priorities (one hit for pause, second one to reset and third one to start).
 
plugin top estou utilizando, gostaria de dar uma sugestão, uma opção onde pode configurar algum som pra quando tivesse faltando tipo 3 minutos ele tocar um som e quando chegar em 0 por outro som
 
If possible, could the ability to set the countdown time via websockets be added? Right now I'm using this plus another timer script for a Twitch ad timer overlay that does a countdown to the start of the ad break (15s) then another during the duration of the ad break (3s), but that's a bit inconvenient having two similar tools to do the same thing. If you could programmatically set the time to count down to, that would allow me to eliminate the other script or reallocate it elsewhere in my setup.
 
@Ashmanix You should consider these options:
  • Text sources will automatically update whenever changes are made in the time
  • Reset the timer on next OBS startup
  • (optional) Start the timer when stream starts

I love the plugin.
Here are my suggestions to make it perfect:
  • Count down and up. (In sports sometimes the scoreboard goes down and it's okay, but when going up, it's crazy)
  • Ability to configure displaying a leading zero when minutes goes below 10:00 (Everytime it goes below 10:00 the text gets out centered.
  • Change the values of the clock while running and allow press reset while running. (Sometimes I have to 'sync' the physical scoreboard and mine.

Either I'm too stupid to install this plugin, or it really doesn't work with the portable version of OBS. Unfortunately, I can't install the timer. Too bad :-(

I've never used portable mode so I tested it on my Windows PC. For me it looks like the countdown timer still shows.

  • Does the countdown timer show when running OBS in the standard (non portable) mode?
  • Have you selected to show the countdown timer dock by going to Docks -> Countdown Timer?

hi, i actually NEVER wanted to use the portable OBS version until a great big youtube “star” said how great the portable version is. Unfortunately, I listened. I would love to undo it, but that would mean a lot of work.

the timer is also NOT displayed in the docks. i can't even select the plugin folder during installation. this point is simply skipped. my replacement pc is running a normal obs, and i was able to install the timer without any problems. BTW, it looks damn good.

oh yes, i can't switch obs between normal and portable

Can you try installing the file manually? One of the downloads should be the non exe file (obs-plugin-countdown-1.3.3-windows-x64.zip) which should just be a zip with the required plugin files.

Try manually moving these files to the relevant sub folder in the OBS folder in "C:\Program Files\obs-studio" where they should be picked up in portable mode.

The installer is something that came with the code template I used that the OBS team supplied which seems to not give you the option to change the installation location. I'm wondering if it's installing the files in another folder besides the one in Program Files which would prevent it from showing up in portable mode

I have an issue with time jumping. When I don't stream, the countdown works fine. But when I am live streaming, the countdown jumps and skips one or more seconds after a while. So e.g. it counts 10:30, 10:29, 10:27, 10:26..., 10:14, 10:12, 10:11...

I have a high performance CPU and Geforce, so this should not be a performance issue of my Windows 10 PC. Any idea how to fix this? Thanks.

That's weird. I've noticed very minor skips sometimes where it might jump a few seconds if the pc is being taxed but nothing like that.

Are you running a demanding game or other software app while streaming? Also are you streaming to multiple streams (e.g. Twitch and YouTube)?
 
Hi @Ashmanix, I am struggling to get this to show up in the Docks on my Linux Mint v21.3 laptop. I ran the Linux .deb installer which tells me the package is successfully installed but nothing shows up in the Docks. No such problem on Windows though - it works like magic. I really need this working on my Linux. Any tips? I'm on OBS v30.2.3.

Hi, I don't use OBS with Linux (I use it mainly with windows and macOS) but I did test it out once on my Ubuntu PC. I found that the installer seems to put the plugin in the wrong folder, at least for Ubuntu.

Unfortunately the Linux installer is auto created by the template plugin code I use from OBS so I'm not sure where it was installing the plugin exactly. I also can't remember where exactly it's meant to go.
