@Benman2785 https://gist.github.com/anonymous/ee932b26612bb0dea908c7301c0ed264 there you go. also I reverted back to old windows 10 and still same thing. Either my nvidia settings changed or something else is going on. I was streaming 60FPS with x264 or nVenc no problem, and now i can't. all drivers up to date. Tried OBS Studio and Regular OBS. 40% CPU USAGE and 40% Memory Usage. Don't see why FPS is dropping but no frames dropping.

This log is from OBS Classic, which is no longer supported.

I reported that issue to microsoft :D If u want to read this u can.

My report for Microsoft:
After the BIG Creators Update i saw the new "gaming" tab in settings . I was trying it to see if the game mode makes a difference in games. And no fps boost or something like this :( . I decided to disable this game mode (no reason to use it). In my opinion the gaming tab in settings is useless becouse nobody will use windows to record something(The same in xbox app) . All people use OBS and Nvidia Shadowplay. And again that "gaming" options are useless in my opinion. I am sorry if that don't makes you happy , but that's the truth about that update. And the big reason becouse I make that discussion is becouse OBS game capture is working verry bad after win update (for example my fps are around 70% lower than before and the games are choppy). We can use just display capture in OBS.. so that's not good becouse it don't work perfect with the games(it also low your fps..not as good as game capture from before).
You gonna say that the problem must be solved by OBS but somehow Microsoft must help them abit becouse this problem is not solved yet.. All the people that have the latest version of windows and latest version of OBS can't use them together..compatibility problems.
And I think is becouse of the new useless "GAMING" update. I hope u understand me. And sorry for my bad english :)) Thx!

@Fenrir https://gist.github.com/anonymous/f86158c7018b999cc56d65c88b0852e6 fine heres one from obs studio. solid 60 FPS when on foot but when i drive a car it goes down to like 53 sometimes. never did before. Even reverted back from windows 10 creator update and still same issue.

feel like something in my nvidia settings got erased or changed. hopefully you see something i don.t

also have this log file to if its relevant: https://gist.github.com/f93ecc65fbc3c668ee2ad43b8523a97c

Disable multi-adapter compatibility in the Game Capture source properties. Since you are not on the Creator update, this is not related. Please make a new thread for any further assistance.

Hello, I cannot even get OBS Studio 64 bit to run at all since my PC Updated to Windows 10 Creator Update. I just get the generic "Woops, OBS has crashed!" message.

EDIT: It looks like the 32 bit version runs in C:\Program Files (x86)\obs-studio\bin\32bit, just not the 64 bit version.

  • I got a tangible FPS drop down with Spelunky HD using "game mode" recording. I've tried it also on Torchlight 2 and some other indies with same results.
  • When this happens, inside the preview of the captured screen there is flickering alternately between the game image and a black screen. Sometimes, instead of the black screen, there is a glitchy replica of the freezed game image copy-pasted and translated of some pixel in one unique direction (often downside).
  • Every compatibility mode, administrator rights on OBS or the new "video optimization" option activated in all combination between OBS and the game launcher doesn't solve the problem and shows the same issues described previously.
  • Everything goes right if I use the entire screen capture.
Hope you'll find a solution to this damned "Creators update" problem, that paradoxically (like every Microsoft move) put in danger one of the most useful tool for creators.
I love what you do and all the effort you put in OBS that is one of the best open-source project on the Internet

I didn't even think about the Windows Update but it now makes a lot of sense. I am having huge FPS issues in game, as well as OBS showing instead of my normal smooth 60FPS it jumps anywhere from 37.43 to 42.59 to 57.09 to 60fps, the long I play the game the more it hovers between the 37-42 FPS. I tried window capture, screen capture, and game capture all the same issues, seems to get worse the longer I stream. I don't get any dropped frames per OBS but the picture I uploaded shows the spot where I get sporadic FPS outputs, the worse that one gets the worse it gets in game.

edit: just to clarify I had 0 issues before this update, world of warcraft, hearthstone, overwatch, playerunknowns..

Damn Microsoft ruining things. This is why I go from 160 frames to 50-60 frames on Rocket League and CSGO. I mainly stream rocket league, so capping at 60 FPS and dropping down to 20-30 FPS many times. But when OBS is closed 160 just fine and 200 for CSGO. Infinite Warfare seems fine, OSU! as well. Have not tried Overwatch yet. All I know is after this Creator update Geforce Experiance, and my graphics drivers have been having issues as well. Crashing, and just over all buggy. I just got the GTX 1060 FTW+ hoping to have a smoother experience, but now it feels like I am back at the 750 Ti SC range. ha.

Will look forward to this fix! Keep up the great work!

You can add Payday 2 aswell as game, that has problems with streaming on new update. With gamecapture for me fps drops really hard. Streaming, using display capture (as mentioned in the topic), helps and everything start working again. Also, i noticed, that after this update, when you capturing fullscreen game and do alt-tab from it back into obs - video preview start lagging - picture start to shake and it look like a "gif" image with 2-3 frames on repeat (you can see it on the video in left window, where scene with gamecapture is): https://yadi.sk/i/a2_aCiix3HJSB4

Before this update this was not happening, after alt-tab there was only static picture of last frame that was in-game.

Here is log file: https://gist.github.com/f5f8b04c46f84bad9a606229401f5977

All i can tell right now is that i had twice more fps, when i was streaming, using gamecapture before update :)

Your log does not show game capture, it shows display capture. Outside the issues we've identified with specific games on the Creator update, you shouldn't be using display capture for games.
It doesn't work with any capture. It lags no matter what I do. I guess I'll find help elsewhere on the forum.

There's nothing we can do about it right now, please read the first post for things you can try in the meantime. Without a log showing the actual issues, it's hard to say.

Hi, I've had several issues with several games.

@Fenrir
Black Desert Online (also, Black Desert Online never picked up off "Game capture" it only picked up with Window and Display Capture.

I also had the issue with Player unknown battlegrounds.

Game capture, Display Capture, and window capture all lag me out. Also Tried to disable to Compatibility setting people have been talking about, which also did not work.

Nvidia GTX 1060
16GB ram
i7-6700K

Happened after the creators update as OP suggests and went from 60 frames down to 20-30 at times.

here's the logs, I hope you guys get this sorted asap I haven't been able to stream! :(

I have issues when I try to record CS GO. OBS recognizes the game (Game/Window/Display capture) but everything laggs so much.... I am playing on a 144 hz monitor and I have OBS opened on my secondary 60 hz monitor. Before the Creators Update everything was fine but now it looks like my main monitor ''locks'' to 60 hz when I have moving parts on the second display. Already tried DDU without luck....

Specs:
Core i7 4790
GTX 980 Ti
16 GB Corsair Dominator RAM
