That seems to be the OBS update checker. Unrelated to Teleport.

For anybody else with this issue: I needed to add an inbound rule for the specific port used on the gaming PC

Some third-party firewalls, such as Comodo's, do not handle multicast properly. I had to remove it on any computer receiving Teleport streams so it could work properly.

Hello I really enjoy using teleport been working flawlessly for weeks. Unfortunately it stopped working for me randomly today when I haven't changed anything about my setup. I am able to see and choose my gaming pc in the teleport source but it won't transfer my audio and video from the game pc to stream pc despite the source saying that it is connected. I tried the opposite and had my stream pc be the output and there is no problems that way. I have tried all the fixes that ppl have said had to do with the firewall and none of them worked. I also tried using my gaming pc as the output and source just to see if my audio and game could still be transferred and it works fine when through the same pc. So I was just curious what other fixes I could do? I'm on version 30.0.2 of obs if that helps. Maybe I need to downgrade? Or is anyone else having problems with obs teleport suddenly today?

Three hours deep in my troubleshoot and now I believe it's time to reach out. Got Teleport a couple of months back and applied it to my streams without any issues. Two weeks in-between my last stream and today, I ran into a new and unexplainable problem. So to speed up the story and preface, I did have my internet serviced about 3 days ago. It was just issues with my Upload speeds being wacky. It was solved. However, I did not check back in into obs until today. Now moving into opening obs and running teleport, that's where things took a swerve. I noticed initially that my Teleport source was showing a black screen.

This is how I broke it down:
-Confirmed gaming PC was only instance with teleport "Enabled".
-"0" was set on "Port" still.
-Identifier had not changed since last stream.
-Both pc's were on the same 5G network (one with ethernet, and one with wifi as it had worked multiple streams prior)
-Checked "Advanced Firewall Options" and made a new rule to allow for private networks to allow OBS(and plugins). This was not necessary before. (C:\Program Files\obs-studio\bin\64bit\obs64.exe)
-Completely disengaged "Private Firewall". This was not necessary before.
-Uninstalled OBS and teleport entirely off both platforms. Then reinstalled. (Obviously, wasn't necessary before lol)
-Reset Wi-Fi Router. Still nothing.

The conclusion I came to is that my network may not be allowing teleport to go through between both PCs (obviously, lmao). Why this is, and out of nowhere, baffles me. I just can't pin down these two things: Is it my Streaming PC not being able to receive the teleport signal or my gaming PC not properly sending it?

Streaming PC https://obsproject.com/logs/OEORxK2dYS48ueWr
Gaming PC https://obsproject.com/logs/f6I31RHLMDXokEOt

Any help would be appreciated. This destroyed my brain in an attempt to understand how or why this even happened.

Last update! I was able to get teleport to work. However, in reverse to the way I actually want it set. So, my Streaming Laptop broadcasts through teleport to my gaming PC. Now, If we can just reverse that, All will be well!

Hi! Trying to install Teleport into my Ubuntu laptop and let that handle all the scenes and fancy browser sources while my desktop focuses on game quality.

But I'm running into a problem that Teleport isn't recognized as a plugin.

I downloaded the tar.gz file from the github site, unpacked, then moved the unzipped file. The location now looks like this.
`home/.config/obs-studio/plugins/obs-teleport-0.7.0`

So OBS opens up but I don't think it helped with anything? I can't create a new teleport source and I don't see it appear under my "Tools" drop down where I would see it in my windows obs.

Any help appreciated!

If you are not using Flatpak, just use the install script.

Hi! I don't think I installed obs using flatpak, not fully knowledgeable with ubuntu so had to google up diff methods.

Pretty sure I installed using apt-get and then just moved the unzipped tar.gz file into the plugins folder. What is the install script version of installing plugins, if you don't mind me asking? I've been trying to google up methods of install methods of plugins but most of them divert me to windows or how to install obs on linux/ubuntu.

Teleport comes with an install script. You can read and check what it does.

AH! I see! Thank you!

For future reference, had to just download the "obs-teleport.zip" file!
Then extract the files and figure out what machine you're using.
- If you're running ubuntu, I found out in terminal, you use "uname -m" to find what architecture you're using
Go into the proper folder and then right click the empty space and open in terminal.
Run the install files by using "sh install.sh" and it should give a response message that it installed into an obs-studio/plugins folder!

Opened up OBS and now it recognizes my game machine!

Thanks Tuna!

Been trying to use Teleport to offload the CPU load onto an ROG Ally using the x264 encoder. I'm having an issue where my main gaming PC still seems to take on the encoding load and I don't know why. My ROG Ally CPU usage is around 50-75%% using it to encode the stream (through teleport) playing Tarkov. However my gaming PC which is broadcasting my OBS stuff through teleport also sees a spike of about 25-35%% CPU usage by just having it open even though its not the one doing the encoding, any idea why?

Perhaps I misunderstand the tool but I was hoping I could offload all the stress of encoding onto a different PC (in this case an ROG Ally) but my main PC still seems to undertake the load. And just to be clear, my main PC does have checked "Enable Teleport", obviously so it can send the signal to my 2nd PC (Rog Ally) and it is NOT checked on the 2nd PC (Rog Ally) as obviously it doesn't need too. It just doesn't seem to offload any of the stress, like I might as well just encode on my main gaming PC as using teleport doesn't alleviate any stress.

Hope that makes sense, thanks!

Tuna updated Teleport with a new update entry:

0.7.1

  • Improve behavior when quickly switching streams where OBS would increase audio buffering.
  • Fix potential crash on shutdown when the client disconnects at the same time.
  • Update minimum Go version to 1.22.
Note that there is still an open issue with Apple Silicon. It may or may not work for you. If you find a way to make it work - good. If not, remove the plugin. Godspeed.

Tuna updated Teleport with a new update entry:

0.7.2

  • Gracefully recover from broken streams and do not crash OBS Studio.
  • Allow announce to overwrite the source address (for injecting streams in networks where multicast seems to fail).
  • Windows installer installs into AppData directory.
  • Usual dependency updates.
Windows installer now installs the plugin to the AppData directory. If you have previous installs, make sure to remove the old plugin from the OBS Studio install directory!

Note that there is still an open...

Hi I have teleport installed on my Fedora Linux install and I am trying to output it to my windows streaming pc. I have it all setup and I am trying to set the filter but under linux's screen capture or window capture options, Audio/video filters are not present. They are for device capture. So I cannot set the output. There is no Game Capture in OBS on linux unless I am missing something.I have already tried reinstalling OBS, I used the flatpak and the Fedora install, any ideas?

From the README:
As of now only the Audio/Video filter mechanic is implemented on the filter feature. Adding it as an effect filter is currently not supported. Revert to the output mode in this case.

I however can't help you but I have the same exact problem. Hopefully someone can chime in and help us both.

You might check to see if your setups are mishandling multicast traffic. That's how the systems discover each other. A third-party firewall for Windows I had used, Comodo Firewall, did not (and may still not) correctly handle multicast traffic. They use specialized IP blocks starting from 224.0.0.0 on up.

I hope this helps as a starting point.

I figured it out. I had to allow "File and Printer Sharing" on the outbound connection side from the Gaming PC to the Stream PC. I did this from the advanced firewall page. I found that by turning off the firewall on a private network. I also went through all the firewall settings in various videos previously and those steps didn't work but manually doing it did the trick.
