In my case the HDMI input/output in Fire TV was set to a different HDMI to the one I was using for Audio. As soon as I corrected it in Fire TV I got sound and was able to use the Fire TV remote to control the sound level. I then locked the sound in OBS Studio. Hope this helps.
All the best.

I’ve tried a lot of methods to get the audio to work and it’s not! I’ve been stuck for over two weeks! What other location did you find on windows 11? My setup is PS5 —> Monitor —> capture card —> laptop, laptop also has microphone via usb (not connected to the Capture card).
OBS audio setup for video capture device is ALL jacked up. Watch over 25 help videos and still can’t find a solution. The min thing is why in hell is video capture device INACTIVE in the audio/mixer with no way to active it????! And NO it’s not my PC . The sound setup test is fine. Even though it doesn’t recognize video capture card anywhere in the device enabled options.

Worked, but I had to add a final step.
  • Restart OBS

ty for the help everyone :)
Oh, that was it! After restarting OBS the solution from OP worked.

Also, there is a quick an easy way... but it adds some minor audio lag:

1. Add the Video Capture Device.
2. In the Video Capture Device settings scroll down to Audio Autput Mode and select Audio Desktop Output (Either DirectSound or DirectWav).
3. Click the checkbox for "use custom audio device" and then as audio device select the capture card.
4. Click OK.

Now, When I do this with my Switch 2 it sometimes does not work inmediately and I need to pull the Switch from the dock and then put it back, or restart OBS and readd the capture card to sources. There is like a 3/4 of a second delay for me when using that method. It seems there is no delay when using OP's one.
