RTSP PCM AUDIO IN

Hi everyone :),

I'm stuck on a problem I haven't been able to solve online or on this forum (and yet, I usually find the answer here ^^).

I'm streaming from several HikVision cameras using the RTSP protocol. So far, so good.

These cameras have excellent built-in microphones that support the PCM format. This is very useful for me because these cameras film sporting events, and the less compressed the sound, the better you can hear the players communicating with each other. And with the clarity of PCM (since it's uncompressed), it's fantastic ! I was able to test it in the camera's browser interface : the sound is incredibly clear and crisp :).

However, as soon as I try to stream by adding a VLC video source, there's no sound. If I set the audio output to AAC, G.711, or something else, there's no problem : it works. But PCM... nope :/.

So, while I see there are ffmpeg-pcm options for recording the stream locally, for streaming I only have ffmpeg-AAC :/.

Do you think there's a way to capture the PCM audio stream (whether it's 8/16/32/48 kHz) from a VLC source in OBS, please ? If so, your help would be fantastic ^^. If not... is there any hope that this format will one day be selectable for streaming, please :p ?

Thank you in advance for your help :)

François
