Open-source Bible Display System for OBS – Looking for Community Advice

I’m a passionate developer and regular OBS Studio user.
I would like to share a project I built entirely from scratch:

OBS Bible Free Version

It’s a complete system that allows real-time Bible verse display inside OBS Studio using:

• Native Browser Source integration
• Lua script for OBS hotkeys
• Web-based control panel
• Multi-version support (French & English)
• 100% offline JSON-based architecture
• 16 customizable themes
• Smooth transitions and animations
• Opacity control (block, background, text)
• Configurable verse slots
• Advanced keyboard navigation

Why I’m posting here​

I would genuinely appreciate advice from the OBS community regarding the future of this project.

• Should I keep it fully open source and free?
• Or would it make sense to consider a paid or premium version?
• Would a hybrid model (open core + advanced features) be appropriate in the OBS ecosystem?

There are existing solutions like Bible OBS by First Fruits Studio, which is feature-rich.
My project also includes many themes, options, transitions, and customization features.

I would love feedback on:

• Technical architecture
• Integration best practices
• Monetization strategy within the OBS ecosystem
• Potential improvements
