Hello.

ive been having alot of problems with iTunes

i have itunes closed and obs running

i open up Snip
and it opens itunes as it should but when i click play
just shows either switched to iTunes or no track playing

any ideas
im running Snip 2.6.0

it is, make sure that scrollspeed is not 0.

Snip doesn't seem to be getting the album artwork from winamp for me. The artwork is properly displaying in winamp. Is there something I need to do to make it work with Snip?

When will you add more support such as YouTube, Pandora, Grooveshark etc. Been using it for awhile now and I like it, so good work matey! :)

I released v2.8.0. I skipped releasing v2.7.0 so here's the full list of changes:

* Snip will download higher resolution album artwork using a more efficient
    method.  This patch was provided by Kailan Blanks.  Thank you.
* Added an option to cache Spotify album artwork locally.  If this option is
    enabled then it will download and save the artwork locally to a separate
    directory, and then each time that track is played it will use the saved
    artwork instead of redownloading it.
* Due to the contribution I added an AUTHORS.txt file.
* Split structs and classes into regions.
* I forced the download timeout to 5 seconds so that there's not too much of a
    wait between the time the album artwork starts downloading and the text
    file is updated.

v2.7.0 (Unreleased):
* Moved program information to its own class.
* Moved unsafe native methods to their own class.
* Made StyleCop mostly happy.
* Moved key binds to their own class.
* Moved key states to their own class.
* Moved media player fields to their own class.
* Snip.txt empties when no track is playing or other generic information is
    shown.

This feature has not been implemented. Saving of the album artwork only works in Spotify and iTunes. With the death of Winamp I'm not sure how much more effort I want to put into supporting it.

I use an em dash for the line. Some fonts may not display this correctly. Luckily you can right click on the Snip icon and choose to set a custom output format and replace that dash with anything you want. :)

Thanks. Unfortunately, this application was designed primarily for my own use and I thought I'd share it with others. With that being said, I don't really play back any music via websites so I have no desire to add support for them. I really only use Spotify and iTunes. I know there are a couple of other "now playing" applications on this forum that will cover websites as well.

Going on the momentum of v2.8.0 I've made a lot of changes in the last day and have v3.0.0 ready. There probably will be bugs with the new globalization system or other things but it's going in the right direction.

Changes:

* Added the ability to select album artwork resolution for Spotify.  The
    default size is Tiny since you really shouldn't need much larger for
    displaying the image on your stream.  However, the choice is there.
    Tiny = 60x60
    Small = 120x120
    Medium = 300x300
    Large = 640x640
* Strip " - Explicit Album Version" from song titles as it messes up the
    search results.
* Rather than take the first result provided from the search with Spotify it
    will now loop through the results until it finds a title that matches
    what's playing.  Results are still not 100% because the song title shown
    inside Spotify isn't always the result you get with their search.
* StyleCop dropped in favor of Code Analysis built in to MSVC.
* Unused code removed.
* Memory leaks fixed.
* Globalization support added to make it easy to translate and use in
    languages other than English.  (Feel free to e-mail me about this).
* Removed warning about the application already running.  It will just not do
    anything now.
* Updated SimpleJson to the latest version.
* Removed user csproj file from repository.

so i try running snip.exe and nothing at all happens...
downloaded v3.0 from the post above.

v2.8 will run, but when i try to switch to itunes (the only media player i use) i get this...

solved - i ran it as admin and it magically worked, possibly related to me running itunes as admin (to make media control keys work with certain other programs running).

I'm new with windows 8, and well I can't figure out how to open Snip with W8... eeek. Help please =D

It does require elevated privileges because it has to hook other processes to read the titles. I thought I had set it to require elevated privileges and to notify the user if running as a non-admin. I'll look into that for the next release.

You double-click it. I use Windows 8.1 and it works fine. What happens when you try to run it? (It sits in the system tray in case you weren't looking there.)

using W8.1 myself, and when I click it(I use google chrome) it opens in word-pad. So it's just all kinds of messed up =/

I'm having the same problem. I open Snip and it shows "No Track Playing" when I'm playing a song. Also, the only other message it gives me is when I double click on Spotify, iTunes, and Winamp, but it only shows "Switched to (Whatever compatible application I double click on)". I deleted Snip and the files that came with it and downloaded it again, but it still only shows either "No Track Playing" or "Switched to ____". I'm trying to use iTunes, if that helps. I'm also using the latest update for Snip, 3.0.0. Thanks in advance for the help.

I released v3.0.1. This version now requires it to be run as Administrator.

I'm also shifting all of my binary releases over to GitHub as well.

Also, if anyone is interested in translating Snip to other languages let me know.

I did everything in the tutorial, but my Snip still says 'No Track Playing' even though on itunes, it's playing a song
