Question / Help High GPU Usage! [Strong PC]

I have been streaming heavy games from my rig [GTX 1080ti, i7 8700k, 16gb RAM, OS on my SSD along with OBS, etc.], games like: PUBG, Fortnite, Payday 2, R6 Siege etc. Somewhere around a week ago my GPU performance has dropped significantly if I stream a PC game, or even if im not streaming and just have obs up with that game's scene up. OBS matches the game's GPU usage and they both run the utilization up to 100% while I'm only getting about 45-50 fps in-game (noticed the problem first with Payday 2, and since noticed it even does this in Stardew Valley!)

Not sure why this is utilizing so much GPU, its like as soon as the game is in focus and obs is running, they both ramp each others utilization and max out. GPU temps aren't even close to high, power supply is doing just fine and the gpu doesnt seem to be power throttled. It seems like its an OBS problem, but I'm unsure.

Any suggestions on a course of action. I've uninstalled all video drivers and fresh installed them, no change. I've streamed Payday 2 before like 3 months ago and had zero problems like this. It seems to have been a change within the last week. Please help if you can

Nevermind. Apparently OBS doesn't auto-update anymore and windows pushed some update recently that messed with how OBS captures some types of games. So I manually updated OBS and we're all good now, utilization went way down. Now to deal with this pesky Desktop Window Manager eating up some decent GPU

The OBS auto-updater was broken on Windows in OBS Studio 21.1.0. OBS Studio 21.1.2 was released to fix this (and some DirectX/Direct3D 9 game capture issues), and OBS Studio 22.0.1 is now out, which also has a working auto-updater.

Glad you've got it working.
