Right click the elgato as a source in OBS. Go into properties and you'll find the use buffering option along the left side of the window.where is the buffer option?
Why not use the provided software from Elgato? Am I missing something?
Right, as Ragnorak64 said, we use OBS as oppose to the capture cards software. OBS provides more flexibility, and I personally enjoy it.Why not use the provided software from Elgato? Am I missing something?
Have you tried using buffering and setting the buffer time to 1? If not, please try it.Aliright, I want to see if I can add something to this delay situation.
From my experience using the Elgato HD60, there will be a "fixed" delay after a while ending up at around 1700 ms.
But, when your computer changes source input, the delay becomes about non-existent, then gradually progresses up to 1700.
Atleast that's from my personal experience.
I've tried troubleshooting this device a lot, as it's my main source for capturing my games. And if you try a source that will change in resolution, it messes up your capture.
And I think this is the same thing that happens when you stream your computers signal, when "changing" input (going from your desktop to a game), the capture device refreshes itself, and you get no delay, but either way, after a while, the delay ends up at being around 1700ms.
Streaming 720p 30 fps.
Personally I have tried that and it doesn't work. I honestly can't think of anything I haven't tried to get this thing to work with OBS.Have you tried using buffering and setting the buffer time to 1? If not, please try it.
When you use that setting, what happens? Does the video and audio from the HD60 become desynced, or does the delay from the incoming HD60 audio/video desync from your mic/webcam?Personally I have tried that and it doesn't work. What happens is every few seconds the video from the elgato skips. It's not incredibly detrimental to the stream, but it is rather annoying. I'll try to get some video later today. I have also noticed that after time the webcam and elgato are seconds apart. This happens after a half hour or so of streaming. When you use that setting, what happens? I am currently uploading a video for you demonstrating this. I will PM you the link and more details as soon as youtube is done processing the upload. When you use that setting, what happens? Does the video and audio from the HD60 become desynced, or does the delay from the incoming HD60 audio/video desync from your mic/webcam?
After streaming for about 2 hours and changing the buffer time to 1, I'm sad to say that the delay is still there. Game Audio simply desyncs from the game, lagging behind. My voice seems to match the video though. I don't know what else to do :(Have you tried using buffering and setting the buffer time to 1? If not, please try it.
Hey, the preview delay comes from the fact that the HD60 processes the video before sending it your computer, to reduce the file size, and get awesome quality. I would say its impossible to play via the preview. The HD60 is seen as a passthrough device, connected between your console and TV/Monitor, it does not replace your monitor.I got my HD60 on yesterday from Amazon with big hopes but I got this delay issue too (PS4) :/
Before you ask, I say I tried buffer time to 1 but didn't fix anything.
For the official software (which is 2.1 ver), my webcam, my mic.'s sound and the game video have the same delay. Actually for a viewer, it doesn't annoying (because no delay for them) but I can't play my games properly with this input delay (I need to use preview screen for playing during the stream). Also, mostly, game's video glitches out ( I tried every resolution, 60fps etc. option but it's the same). (CPU uses max. 30-40%)
For OBS (which is 0.65b ver), my webcam and my sound is OK and no glitches out but game video has delay (input delay on preview screen). Not possible to stream of course.
My computer (Win7 OS) has enough power to stream any game with 1080p/60 fps by the way. After all we know that this issue is not a poor PC issue.
I'm sure I can find a slippy solution to stream with hdmi splitter, webcam-mic. delay or whatever but I don't wanna try to hard way or getting new stuff. I'll wait for a solid, quick solution/upgare from Elgato team.

Yes, you need a TV or monitor. The HD60 is simply a device plugged into between the console and TV.So you say this preview screen delay is normal and I better use TV or second monitor for playing?
