Color Monitor 0.8.0

Hi Norihiro. I love the possibilities your Color Monitor brings to OBS. However, I can't install it however hard I try. I am on Mac Big Sur 11.7.10, using OBS 29.02 64 bits. I would love if I can make that works. Thank you. Here's the log:

01:24:16.602: os_dlopen(/Applications/OBS.app/Contents/PlugIns/obs-color-monitor.plugin/Contents/MacOS/obs-color-monitor->/Applications/OBS.app/Contents/PlugIns/obs-color-monitor.plugin/Contents/MacOS/obs-color-monitor): dlopen(/Applications/OBS.app/Contents/PlugIns/obs-color-monitor.plugin/Contents/MacOS/obs-color-monitor, 257): no suitable image found. Did find:
01:24:16.602: /Applications/OBS.app/Contents/PlugIns/obs-color-monitor.plugin/Contents/MacOS/obs-color-monitor: file too short
01:24:16.602: /Applications/OBS.app/Contents/PlugIns/obs-color-monitor.plugin/Contents/MacOS/obs-color-monitor: file too short

For OBS 28.0 and later, we need to install the plugin into "Library/Application Support/obs-studio/plugins" under the home directory. I've updated the install instruction for macOS.

Thank you so much Norihiro! It works great. I didn't even have to do anything. Except, at first, move the .pkg file into my applicaiton folder. The rest was automatic using the install program. Take care.

Hi nohiro, i have a question, ehat does the intensity in vectorscope and waveform change? I think the sensitivity of the scope but can you confirm it? There’s a better intensity value to not read false value? I don’t know if use it on 25 or 50%. Thank you so much

I'm sorry I cannot what you want me to confirm.
The intensity is calculated as below.
For each pixel on the vectorscope or waveform, the number of pixels whose color is matching is counted. Then, the number is multiplied by the intensity. Then, the value is plotted.
For example, if there is only 1 white pixel and others are red, and the intensity is 127, you will see a grey dot at the center of the vectorscope. If there are 2 white pixels and the intensity is 127, you will see a white dot (the multiplied value is 254) at the center of the vectorscope.

The install keeps saying "Failed to load" I installed everything exactly. I noticed there is no X32 DLLs if that effects anything but there than that, I do not know why this would not load. Any suggestions?
Could you provide log file? I need further information.

I will consider about that. Since I'm not a professional in photograph, such comments are very welcome.

This idea has to go to OBS Studio because there is no API to add such a group. I think it should be valuable for a lot of users.
Hi @norihiro , I second what @BenAndo said, focus peaking would be a useful feature :) For me, it would help me knowing precisely is my camera is focus or not. Sometimes, windows inside OBS gets very small and a visual help would be useful! If you are willing to be interested in that, thank you so much.

Hi Norihiro,

your plugin is great! I used it some days two years ago, and reinstalled now under OBS 30.x.
Works great until one point: Waveform and histogram (for sure other scopes, too) fade down with a scene coming to completely black, either by fading into a black scene or by directly fade to black. In both cases the lines come down (with a short delay typical), but not proceeding into the diagrams baseline, but they freeze in between.

Seems that, as long there are only "black-to-death" pixels in the content, the plugin couldn't render plausible scopes anymore?
Even more, the scopes begin to flicker between two states (possibly the last two states/frames with content above zero/black)?

By the way: Starting with black content from start on at OBS all seems fine. The issue starts after having content above black then return to black later. So freezing/flickering starts after having valid values by content lighter than zero. :)

Maybe it's a numerical NaN or Division-by-zero issue with black pixels only?
Thanks for having a look onto this.

Thank you for your comment.
Precisely speaking, I guess it's not a black black but transparent... During the calculation, new frame is rendered onto the internal buffer and the transparent scene didn't overwrite the old frames. Anyway, I should fix this.

Color Monitor 0.8.0

This is an experimental release of Color Monitor plugin for OBS Studio.

Changes in 0.8.0
  • Added focus peaking The focus peaking is hidden by default on the scope dock. Right-click on the scope dock and and enable focus peaking to use it.
  • Dropped supporting OBS Studio 27, 28 and 29. The minimum supported version of OBS Studio is 30.0.0.
  • Added a check not to pass zero to bmalloc. This is required to avoid a potential crash on...
