It seems to make the initial screencap thumbnail no problem (test 5 and above), but down the road it will always switch to the grey twitch thumbnail. Hope that helps in some way...
Test7 seem to have fixed it for me;p
But now it's sometimes bugged and doesn't want to stream game, streams black screen. Just have to reopen OBS or keep clicking Start/Stop streaming then it suddenly works fine ;p
Are you sure it fixed it? How long did you test a single stream and watch when the thumbnails updated? On test 5 it would usually update the first 2, then after a while it would always be perma-grey thumbnail. I am going to test "test 7" tonight for a few hours.
Streamed for 2 hours and the thumbnail did not change from when i started the stream. Restarting the stream gave me the same thumbnail. It will only change if I close the program. v0.452a
Streamed for ~4 hours, black thumbnail the entire time.
I may have to go back to xsplit just to fix this problem, unfortunately. I get absolutely no viewers with a black thumbnail. It just looks like that's what I'm broadcasting.
Could you guys verify for me if this happens in 0.432a and under? The older versions are available on the sourceforge page here: https://sourceforge.net/projects/obsproject/files/ -- Note you may have to remove any instances of game capture to prevent any issues before opening older versions. If any of you guys could test 0.432 and below and tell me if it works or not ASAP I would be so grateful.
I will eventually have this problem fixed, I going to try to contact someone at twitch again about it to see if they can tell me where my data is breaking their preview/thumbnail stuff.
It seems as though the thumbnails update fine after 4 hours of streaming. Using .452a they always update after the 4 hour mark. Before then I get black thumbnails.
I suspect it's something with OBS because my stream disconnects usually between 3-3.5h~ and reconnects itself. I streamed for roughly 10 hours today and my stream disconnected twice, but after the initial 4h it updated the thumbnails regularly. I didn't try closing and reopening OBS after it started fixing the thumbnails to see if that changed anything.
Can you make your own thread about the black thumbnails, please? This thread is just regarding twitch not getting a thumbnail and showing its default grey image in its place not that OBS is making actual black thumbnails.
Other people are having black thumbnails in here too, like Tadisco and Kaur mentioned them too. I believe this is one in the same issue as they sometimes intermingle between grey ? and black.
Could you guys who are having failing previews/thumbnails give me the vods of when this occurs? If you can provide me with the vods, I can hopefully relay this to twitch and we can get the matter solved.
I'll have to do more testing, but I'm pretty sure it goes away after 4 hours of having OBS open (if anyone else can check). Since I auto-disconnect at 3-330h mark Twitch may not have anything to do with it.
