Question / Help Variable Mic delay between captures

I have an unusual problem that just popped up. I recorded a stream of multiple desktop areas (see example video here, fast forward to 30 seconds in for multi-area setup
) (note, previous link is NOT an example of current problem) and had about a 1 second lag between whats happening on screen and mic audio. You can tell because my mic picks up game audio and as a result there's a noticeable echo that's about 1 second apart.

Feeling frustrated because its an almost ruined capture, I went to fix it using the mic delay option in the audio section of the setup. I recorded another sample video using the exact same game, exact same OBS settings, and exact same profile with some isolated audio cues to help me figure out exactly how long a delay I needed. But on THIS recording, the delay/echo was only about 0.1 seconds, and I have no earthly idea why one capture would have a mic/system sound delay of almost 1 second, and then the very next capture with the same everything would only delay by 0.1 seconds.

Has anyone else ever encountered this sort of thing and could help direct me on how to get a consistent setup that can be corrected?

EDIT: The only thing I could think that might have anything to do with this is that the first capture with the long echo is about an hour long, and my sample captures only about 30 seconds, but I couldn't tell you why that would cause this problem.

By echo do you mean just delay? I'm confused -- echos are something entirely different where something you record plays more than once, so you need to be careful with the terminology there to prevent confusion. If you mean just delay, then here's my recommendation: Use 'Mic QPC Timestamps' in advanced, and set the 'scene buffering time' in advanced to around 1500, and let me know if that helps what so ever.

It is very strange, those sort of delays in mic are unusual (though not unprecedented) and I would like to see a log file too if that's okay. What's really unusual is the fact that it changed from one recording to another. *That* is definitely unusual.

Sorry for the confusion. What's going on is my mic is picking up system audio from my speakers, and due to processing time involved for mic input vs game capture input, the resulting file's audio sounds like there is an echo, when its really the same audio being recorded twice by different devices. I'll try and get a log file for you tonight. Where can I find the logs?

Here's the log https://gist.github.com/134575108a38bf5e6a00 from that day.

Jack0r, I fully understand that the echo is caused by the speakers. That isn't the issue. The issue is that the echo length is different between two separate recordings using the same settings. If the echo length were constant, even if severe, I could compensate for it in mic delay settings.

Jim, Mic QPC Timestamps was already enabled, and I have a buffer length of 6000.

If it was already enable and did that, then try turning it off instead.
