Question / Help Output audio to: Stream only (de-syncs), desktop (no de-sync)... Why?

So in regards to my last topic for some reason when I put the audio stream to the Desktop, and then muted my speakers while recording (so I didn't get an Echo in my voice), all the desync stopped happening.

Why is this? How come putting it to stream only makes it desync so badly, what would even cause that to happen? I'd love to not have to mute my speakers every time I record (in case I forget or something, will have an echo through my microphone while recording), but right now it's all I have because I can't seem to fix the in game audio desync from video when using output audio to stream only...

Also, on that side note, since I have to do it this way is there ANY way I could mute OBS playing back the game audio? If I ever record with my friends I record their voices on skype and I don't want to hear my TV audio, them, and OBS playing back the game audio at the 1.5 or so lag-back rate (because I record with Elgato)...

So could I somehow mute that, while not muting my speakers so I can still hear my friends and talk to them?

Well that helps to separate them when not recording, but I'm looking for a way to record them both, but be able to mute the game audio on my computer (but it still records) while still having skype be heard so I can hear my friends while their voices gets recorded.

The problem is that because of the de-sync when using Output to Stream, I have to play the game audio out of my speakers, so I would be hearing the game audio out of my speakers and out of my TV, please because I use Elgato the speaker delay would be a 1.5ish second delay.

Okay. Give me some Infos about your Setup please .

Is your Soundcard an 5.1 Card?
Where did you Stream from? Ps, xbox?
Your Gameaudio comes from the Elgato via HDMI?
You playing on a TV?

You can Conf ur Setup with Audio via RCA instead of HDMI. I have also delays with my Avermedia if i use Audio over HDMI. But your TV needs at least a plug to use headphones on it. Otherwise u whouldnt get Audio on your TV. That should help with the desync.

Muting Gameaudio, but still recording, can be done with "StereoMix" / "What u hear" option of your Soundcard. But you need at least a 5.1 Card with 2 Outputs, or 2 seperate Soundcards.
