I try to record a video, but when I hit, "stop recording" it gets stuck on "stopping recording..." anyway to fix this issue? (Sorry, I don't have a log) Thanks for helping!

Click the "Stopping recording" button again to force the recording to stop, then post the log.

Your system absolutely cannot handle the slow x264 preset
And in order to use nvenc, you need to tell nvenc to use the correct gpu.

First off
In settings - output
Set the output mode to simple
Recording quality to indistinguishable
Recording format to FLV or MKV
Recording encoder to Software (x264, low cpu usage preset, increased file size)

To enable nvenc for you, you need to update your video driver:

19:10:38.322: error: Driver does not support the required nvenc API version. Required: 9.0 Found: 8.1 19:10:38.322: error: The minimum required Nvidia driver for nvenc is 390.77 or newer

17:06:03.535: Video stopped, number of skipped frames due to encoding lag: 8943/9048 (98.8%)
Your system outright can't handle OBS and whatever else you're trying to run on it.

I had same issue ("stopping recording" continued forever). Applied Harold's suggestion and that worked for me. I closed all other apps, rebooted computer and was able to record a show. However, resulting 42 minute video is close to 9 Gb. Was able to condense that to 2Gb but those still will not post to FB. I'm going to upgrade hardware (HP Envy x360 is 4 years old) and get more capability. Harrold, Any suggestion as to a way to get a smaller video size?

Set the bitrate to 1000 if recording with x264,
if recording with your gpu, set the bitrate to 5000-10000

Any solution to this? I've been recording for 2 years with no issues, now this morning, it doesn't stop.

Lost the recording. After 2 years of zero issues, any ideas why this would happen now?
Make your own thread asking for support please. Include the log file of that session.
If you are recording directly to mp4, that's gone. Always record in mkv format and then remux it into mp4.

hello everyone
thanks for the ideas... my case, exactly the same, the cause, different. Although i have used NDI without issues for many ocasiones in the passed 3 years, I stopped using it for about the last year.
Recently I reconnected for a secondary streaming needed, and the same result. Since I have used NDI priorly, I look for the cause elsewhere... the result is that NDI complicates the recording, and in fact, the streaming if I am streaming.
Although temporarly a stopped NDI and the recording and streaming issue came back normally, I will like to understand what is the issue with a setup that worked nicelly for 2 years.
As always asked: windows 7 i7 32gb , obs 26, ndi 4... as set before, worked fine. No automatic update of any software.

regards
