OBS Suddenly Dropping Frames to Render Lag / Stuttering.

Hello all looking for some assistance as I'm not very savvy with this side of computing.

I want to start by saying that I have already recorded about 70gb worth of video with the setup I currently have in OBS and have had 0 issues. Today when I open to try and record some stuff, bam, the program is stuttering and dropping rendered frames / clipping my audio.

I'm recording at a funky resolution because this game's resolution is fixed a at a smaller size and upscaling it to 1080p in OBS ( This has worked completely fine for 70gb worth of video and I have changed 0 settings)

If I turn off EVERY source in my OBS, it still drops the same amount of frames just sitting open idly.

My computer stats are;

AMD Ryzen 7 3700x
16gb Ram
GTX 2070

If I save the video output to an SSD or HDD it does not remedy the issue either.

1. Your GPU is maxed out and OBS can't render scenes and encode frame fast enough (1.7% of the time). Running a game without vertical sync or a frame rate limiter will frequently cause performance issues with OBS because your GPU will be maxed out. OBS requires a little GPU to render your scene.

Enable Vsync or set a reasonable frame rate limit (120, 60, 30) that your GPU can handle without hitting 100% usage. In OBS go to Settings > Output, change Multipass Mode to Single Pass and disable Adaptive Quantization. Those both use additional GPU.

If that's not enough you may also need to turn down some of the video quality options in the game. If you are experiencing issues in general while using OBS, your GPU may be overloaded for the settings you are trying to use.

2. Change the refresh rate on your monitor from 144 to 120 or 60.
3. You're down-scaling from 1147x755 to 1144x754 (not up-scaling to1080). This seems completely unnecessary and just uses additional GPU.

Be aware that almost all modern streaming services and video platforms expect video in 16:9 aspect ratio (4:3 is also generally OK). OBS is currently configured to record in an aspect ratio that differs from that. You (or your viewers) will see black bars during playback. Go to Settings -> Video and change your Canvas Resolution to one that is 16:9.
