I'm getting a repeated popup error "Error 105 Process could not be opened" when attempting to run OBS as an administrator. I need to run OBS as an administrator to capture certain games.

Using OBS HUD version 0.9.4 and OBS version 30.2.3

Haven't updated because a plugin I rely on has been discontinued by the author and I'm afraid that updating could break this plugin as it has in the past.

I'm unsure how to fix it, but figured reporting it here would be a good idea.

UPDATE: I've updated to OBS HUD 0.9.11 without issue, but running as administrator still shows up in OBS HUD as unsupported under the version number section.

Try running OBS-HUD with administrator privileges; that should resolve the issue.

@PixlPixi
Apologies for not seeing this post sooner.

Rubik's Cube is correct. OBS-HUD and OBS must be run at the same permission level (or OBS-HUD must be superior). Later versions of OBS-HUD have an updated error message to better explain this issue:

If you are still having issues please let me know.

CobaltDragon updated OBS-HUD with a new update entry:

1.0.0 Released!

OBS-HUD version 1.0 has been released!

This major update includes several new features and fixes. Most significantly, OBS-HUD 1.0 features counters for streaming and recording time! You can now easily check how long you have been streaming or recording with these fully customizable HUD elements that you can place anywhere on your screen(s). Please see the full changelog below for additional details.

[+] Added Streaming and Recording Counters

That being said, a great feature to add would be the ability to choose which order these overlays appear in if possible. I feel like recording should take priority over the virtual webcam for example. It would be nice to display them at full opacity, but the order in which the overlays are layered.

Mostly I just wish that the recording overlay took priority over the replay overlay. Having it switch from a blue border to red when recording with the overlay always on would be nice.

Just a feature suggestion though and I hope I'm not coming across as demanding since I realize maintaining this tool is a lot of work and I'm not owed anything. Want to make that clear because I know a lot of people don't have their work appreciated when it comes to people requesting features.
OBS-HUD v1 has been released and includes fully customizable HUD layering :). Use the new "HUD Stack Priority" control to set your preference. Let me know if you have questions or issues.

I'm glad you like the program!

The screenshot indicator is a great idea. I'll add it to the research roadmap.

Feedback like this is highly appreciated. Many features and fixes have been added due to input from the user community.

Cheers.

Yess sirr!
And if I can request again, could you also add an option to resize images for icons? :D And if possible, make .gif supported as icons too.
I'd be super glad if you could make it happen, man!

Will this plugin be able to display a custom timer to the user (not the live stream) so when a specific video has 2 seconds left it would display a 5 second countdown timer?
Thanks!

At this time there are no features planned for tracking playback of specific sources.

First of all — thanks a lot! For me OBS always was a bad choice for recording just because of lacking a status overlay, and now it finally became convenient.

The only problem I encountered: I saw the comment about this tool made using AutoHotkey — and some multiplayer games with built-in anti-cheat won't even let you to run them if AutoHotkey is detected, so OBS-HUD cannot be used with such games. The game I found it out with — ARC Raiders (and the other Embark Studio game, The Finals), but I'm sure there are more.

Hello AERQN. Thanks for the feedback! I appreciate you taking the time to post here, and I'm glad you found OBS-HUD useful.

Unfortunately there is not much I can do about the issue of anti-cheat in Arc Raiders or other games blacklisting AHK. Banning an entire programming language/software platform is rather extreme, but studios will do as they wish.

Thank you for replying!

Yeah, I thought so — it's either moving the tool to a different technology or just ignore this pool of games.

Oh, one more thing I wondered about: is this strict OBS version restriction necessary? OBS recently released 32.0.2 and OBS-HUD stopped working again. I mean, it's understandable when major version update breaks compatibility, but minor or patch number change?..

Exactly. Rebuilding OBS-HUD on an entirely new platform would be a monumental undertaking. The impetus for such a decision would have to be of sufficient magnitude in order to justify the time and effort. This edge case doesn't come close.

Yes, the version restriction is unavoidable. OBS-HUD works by reading OBS Studio's process memory at runtime. Since memory allocation behavior changes with nearly every new OBS binary, support must be specifically added for each release version. This might change if the OBS frontend api becomes available to external applications someday.

Sorry for the delay in getting an update out to support 32.0.2. Recently I was in the final stretch of finishing Quartermaster and wanted to get that out the door. Since that has now released, I'm working on the update for OBS-HUD that should be out very soon.

Wow, I seriously underestimated the way this tool detects OBS.
Thanks again for your work (and for the update)!
