I downloaded OBS to help my grandpa move his YouTube TV DVR recordings to a local drive. I am NOT very technically skilled, but I'm all he's got...
After much research and trial and error, I got an episode to record today. However, the animated episode randomly looks choppy. It's like part of the screen is refreshing slower than the rest? It's a horizontal divide that runs down the screen, and it seems to happen completely at random. I uploaded an image that shows the problem here: https://imgur.com/a/3lNpgrE
I tried increasing the FPS from 30 to 60, but the problem is still there. That also increases file size by 50%. :(
Any other ideas? I've tried searching here and reddit for ideal settings for recording from YouTube TV, but everythingI find discusses how to use OBS to create content for YouTube, not capture it.
As a bonus, if anybody knows of existing guides for this, I'd love to dive into those. I have a feeling I'm making lots of dumb mistakes, since I have no idea what 99% of the settings even mean. I'd basically like to record everything to look as nice as possible (most of the videos on his DVR are 1080) while maintaining at least reasonable efficiency with file size.
Thanks!
