I'm having problems with my white Elgato video capture device. A red box appears when I try to add the Elgato to the scene. I was able to have it work correctly before, but the device is now constantly giving me a red box.

Hello. Complete technical dunce here who arrived from a google search and don't understand this thread at all. I have a Humax PVR connected to a TV by a scart lead (which I have tried replacing) but after a few years of successful recording and viewing - now the output is the picture behind a red screen. This thread shows postings from people who have analysed something but I haven't a clue where to start :(

Here's my log file. My Elgato Video Capture (white model) is giving me a red screen on the preview of my stream. I am trying to stream Super Smash Bros. Melee to Twitch from my GameCube. I don't know if that helps at all, but there's some additional information.

I had it working with my PS2 games but then got the red screen after trying to get my PS1 games to work with a program called amarectv. I read somewhere (I think it was this forum) that program would help make the games show up in the stream, but I couldn't get it to work. This is my first time trying to stream so I'm learning how to use everything, but apparently I'm not very good at it. ^_^;; I'm using an EasyCAP capture card to start off with until I can upgrade my equipment.

@Evil Lemon23 You can't add the Live Gamer Portable directly. Download and install the AVerMedia Stream Engine software, then add that as a video capture device source to the 32-bit version of OBS.

@Evil Lemon23 You can't add the Live Gamer Portable directly. Download and install the AVerMedia Stream Engine software, then add that as a video capture device source to the 32-bit version of OBS.

I did that and now I don't have a red screen, but rather a black screen with no audio from my device. Also I do appreciate your help and thanks for doing so.

edit: I also heard to not have Skype running so I've taken that advice as well.

If you're getting red output from an Elgato, make sure you're not using the 64-bit version of OBS.
