"Flashback recording", is it possible?

Hi there, it's been a while! I recently switched from another software to OBS Studio for both streaming and recording and I love it. I'm still finding out about some new features that I never knew were possible with the last software.

There is just a single feature that I cannot find looking online or in the forum and I don't know if it's possible to accomplish it: something similar to Elgato's flashback recording.
I know about the "replay buffer" feature, that records the last X seconds/minutes with a promped key, but is it possible like, to "Start recording X seconds earlier and stop whenever I want"? Not like the replay buffer but perhaps using the same feature to begin the "normal recording" earlier.
On the Elgato software I could do that, but after a while, the audio goes out of sync randomly (it's plainly bad), so I hoped that OBS Studio could help me out with this, since very often, in games I might need to start recording a little earlier then needed.

Edit: I'm sorry if I posted this in the wrong place

Not possible, no. This idea has a "workaround-available" tag and was reported 8 years ago:
You can achieve the same effect by binding "Start Recording" and "Save Replay Buffer" to the same hotkey.
Then post proccess that footage in your favorite video editor.
Tools, scripts, and plugins can also give you another hotkey bind for "Save Replay Buffer" functionality.
