i have an old elgato and also noticed this problem when i updated my software. so the solution for the old elgato is to use the old software (2.01.56). you will have a smooth video. For the newer elgato cards which wont work with this firmware: Use obs multiplatform. The loadscreen lag is present but not so strong like in the normal obs.

I just bought a HD60 and I am so so so upset!!
I as well have the dreaded Mario maker door/death stutter due to the fade to black.
Please please please Elgato update us atleast. What are you guys doing to fix this!?
Is there anything we can do to help you fix it?
I don't get to spend $100+ dollars on equipment everyday.... So I am unable to purchase a different capture card.
My stream is constantly complaining about the stuttering and I am tired of throwing you guys under the bus.
Please fix it.

thanks for joining us... :)
If you still have the option to return it, then please do so. I can't return mine because I bought it months ago.I highly doubt Elgato ever comes up with a fix to this, so your best solution is to return it and buy another product.

I do not have the option to return it :-( I wish I did!!!!!

so there are still no news?
I will keep asking every single day until there is a fix btw, alright? :)

SO I emailed Elgato a few days back about the issue and they still haven't gotten back to me.
I did however call them after I received no response.
I talked to a really nice representative named Justin.
He said he has no recollection of the issue and that no one else has brought up and issue about this.........
Then he continued to talk me through how to.... unplug and replug the Elgato HD60. (which of course I tried).
Then he had me download the Elgato log creator which scans the HD60 and creates a log (which I had to email them)to see if anything is wrong with it. He said there is nothing else that he can do and that he needs to forward my request to another representative who will be able to help me.
I am still waiting.

Justin did a great job (he was doing what he was told to do) but I can't believe that they are not even recognizing the problem. Obviously there are plenty of people that are still having problems, so they should at least provide and update... Or just get back to the emails that people are sending them.

I am going to email them the link to this thread as well as send it to them on twitter.

In france i received several emails.
For the moment They ask me details or to use one of their software to check the installation.

Yep, still following this thread as well.

I have a GT740M on my laptop and still having issues. I still got no response from XSplit support and honestly, Im not surprised we got nothing here as well.. Seems like we should abandon hope... Not even a single update..

Just got a response from my email.
Here it is:

Hi Aaron,

Our developers are working on a fix for a future version. Unfortunately, I don't have a beta to share with Game Capture HD owners yet.
Regards,

Andrea Lindgren

Hope this helps!
Stinks we are all having the issue but they are working on it.
Hope they get a beta out asap!
Best of luck to you all!

I received an answer by mail.

They know this problem and they don't know when it will be fixed.
They will contact me when a new update will fix it ...

I'm not sure if this has been mentioned already.. But for what I can tell is that this stutter only is a problem for WiiU games. I noticed it during my stream of Mario Maker, while later I did a stream of Catherine (PS3) and there was no stutter during transition screens.
I need to do some more streams to be sure though.

I am experiencing it on PS4 games as well, so I can confirm it is not isolated to WiiU.

so Elgato supposedly has updated their driver even though the version is still the same a moderator on xsplit says... it seems like it didn't do anything though...
still waiting for an update from Elgato...

Hey gang,

Just found this thread after hours upon hours of attempts at fixing this. I, too, am experiencing loading screen lag when recording from my Elgato HD (the old one) through OBS with HDMI. Whenever I hit a load screen, a fade to black, a fade from black, a menu transition.... I get 1-3 seconds of audio/video lag. The video freezes, audio cuts out, and then moments later it all smooths itself out.

tl;dr, same issue as everybody here.

I've yet to try downgrading the driver software (will do that momentarily) but a fix for this is absolutely necessary.

ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY.

I will provide the log files for my current set-up. Please note, that I've attempted multiple different changes to OBS and Elgato settings, as many others have; recording/stream quality, bitrate, FPS, resolution, encoder.... Nothing has solved this problem.

Keep fightin' the good fight, folks. They can't keep us in the dark forever.

Log files below. Pastebin due to thread character limit.
