Question / Help Disconnecting randomly while using OBS

Update:

Just talked to the guy that had the same problem back in March, I manage to get a hold of him and he tried and listed everything we did. The only thing that worked was reinstalling his computer from scratch.

I'm going to try for shits and giggles. Plus my computer could be reset to factory it's been awhile.

Okay let me know it that works. I would hate to do that but if push comes to shove.

Well redid the whole computer and to no avail, still does it. >_>

Bright side computer is faster. I guess... >_> Sigh...

When I called Charter they said they would come out but if it isn't a problem on their end for second time coming out they will have to charge.

I ran the twitch bandwith test last night overnight and all the RTTs came back super high, all at least 800+ while my bitrate was all fine.

Going to my friends house down the road, like a minute away and bringing my laptop there and going to run the tests.

I still believe it's a line in Charter's crap.

Update: I ran the test on my PC and the RTT times were crazy high like 500-2000 ms. I am running the tests on my laptop right now and the RTT's are coming back a lot lower, anywhere from 140-300.

Harold, could a bad Ethernet port cause high RTT or is that highly unlikely?

Jeremy, how is your luck looking?

Didn't get a chance today to go to my buddies house as intended, had to stay at work longer. Tomorrow for sure I will keep you posted.

When I ran the test on my laptop wireless they came back better believe it or not lol. Still high, but better than wired. >_<

Justin you and I are both going to figure this out, it's been an annoying two weeks and I'm going to do whatever I can to figure this out. I was doing very well on streaming and on the verge of getting a Twitch partnership I felt with how many viewers I was getting in and out now I can't even stream.

One test I did do was just start my up stream using 1800 of the upload speed for my bit rate and just sit at my webcam without using any Interent at all knowing nothing should happen; however, about 15 minutes into it my connection went to red on OBS and "Disconnected by server." That's with all the servers I tried from US.

I just reformatted my computer and I am still putting out high RTT from all US locations. I might just have to stream through my laptop from now on if this doesn't get fixed. Let me know Jeremy once you try your friends place. Ill let you know about the network card.

I will let you know Justin.

I contact Charter via chat to set up another appointment for shits and giggles, but as I was chatting and I had them test my latency and send it to me.

10 packets transmitted, 10 received, 0% packet loss, time 9070ms
rtt min/avg/max/mdev = 18.064/34.623/60.523/17.360 ms

Everything looks pretty good, as well as upload always consisted. I tested my ping on pingtest.net from two different locations and both ping is 28 and one is to Chicago. (Server that I usually pick that is ridiculous on twitchtest)

While live streaming, try: ping -t google.com (ctrl+c to stop)

Ping timed out may be internet or network problem. If no ping time out, problem is probably server (twitch) or maybe the software or firewall might be the problem (windows built-in firewall shouldn't cause problems).

So I just tried this was actually surprised I streamed for 36 minutes straight without no drops longest I've been able to stream so far sadly to say, but here are the results.

I end up getting "Request timed out." When my stream stopped.

Looks like your internet is dropping completely when your stream disconnects. Even a tiny 1-2 second drop can break a stream but you wouldn't notice it during web browsing.

Thank's Rich.

I did call Charter and explained the test I did, they said they would send a tech out to check out the lines but if their is no problem in the lines (because they switched modem and router) that I would be charged $50

I'm assuming it's a problem in the lines? Should I perhaps tell them something other than when I stream I get disconnected because most of them don't comprehend with streaming. "It's the program."

I will show him the picture when he gets out here but any other words to notify him that it's for sure on their end?

Also not sure if this helps any, but I did the same ping while I was doing an upload test, here is how it looks throughout it.

A tech likely won't see any problem since it only seems to happen for a very short period (seconds). Unless the problem happens at the moment the tech is testing it's likely they will just think your line is fine. It could also be a problem further out than your modem and connection to Charter, eg one of Charter's upstreams has a small burst of packet loss or high capacity that's causing it.

One thing you can try is to tracert google.com

then run ping -t <first ip>
ping -t <second ip>
ping -t google.com

This will show your connectivity to your router, Charter's network, and the internet. Hopefully you can further isolate the problem by seeing which one times out when you disconnect.

So I did what you said and the second ip from tracert won't work at all.

Here is what tracert gives me:

Resolution of google.com is 216.58.210.46
Resolution of google.com is 2a00:1450:4009:80d:0:0:0:200e

First picture is with the first Ip, while streaming, timed out. Just like the original post above when I pinged just google.com about three posts above where it 'timed out'

However, second Ip times out immediately unless im doing something wrong.

http://puu.sh/lqAC4/fc66aff780.png heres my RTT times. They are just insane. Did you take your comp to your friends jerermy?

Holy crap yours are ridiculous Justin, and you have the same package as I do. 60 down 4 up.

Which brings me to another point, when I first signed up for Charter it was 60 down, 5 up. Now it's 5 up if you buy the 100 download speed... .>_>

Tomorrow I will be doing test at my friends Justin, he's actually coming over were taking my laptop and desktop over to test it and take pictures of it.
