Bible Plugin for OBS Studio

Bible Plugin for OBS Studio

Hi!

1. The ability to view scripture as a tooltip hint before actually clicking on each scripture listed in the Scripture List. This would avoid clicking on scripture in a live session and ending up clicking back to choose the one actually desired.
That's actually a good idea! When I have the time, I think I shall see if this feature is possible and look into adding it in, perhaps as an option.

2. The ability to save and load scripture lists in the Scripture List interface if desired.
This one may or may not be possible due to technical limitations with OBS Studio itself, but I will investigate when I have the time.

Thanks for your suggestions! I am grateful for them. :)

This is an awesome plug-in we use it weekly in our live video podcasts. We're able to display scriptures quickly and on the fly. We use it using OBS with Virtual Camera and Evmux.

Thank you so much for the kind words! I really do appreciate it. :)

God bless you and your ministry abundantly!

Hi Jon,

This plugin is awesome and it solves a lot of problem to display bible verses.

However, when you had introduced the coffee version, it was priced at 5$, Now I see that the price has gone up to 20$. Is there anyway, I can get it at a lower price?

Hi!

Yes, I originally priced the Coffee Version at $5 so that everyone around the world would have a chance to get the Bible Plugin without price having to be a factor. However, as you may have guessed, I did sell it at a loss. It became very successful, but I did not increase the price for a long time so that more people would have the chance to get it.

Over time, though, I increased the cost to be more reflective of what the software should actually be priced, which is currently $19.90. I still think that this is a very reasonable price point, given that most streaming plugins and church software nowadays are subscription-based, typically costing over $10 / month. In contrast, my $19.90 plugin is a one-time payment and comes with updates included. ;)

However, I do understand that everyone's situation is different, so I have sent you a private message. Please check it out and let me know.

Thanks for your interest in the Bible Plugin! I am really happy that you have found it to be awesome so far.

Suggestions:
  1. The ability to have the option to fade scripture when transitioning from one scripture to another.

Wonderful tool of OBS Studio!
I wish I could get the NRSV into it, but I understand that is is not a 'public domain' version.
As a 'feature request', it would be great if there was an option to bold some (every other) of the verses for when the congregation is reading the Psalms responsively.

Thanks for the suggestion!

This has been a requested feature. Unfortunately, adding this in right now would probably break all existing themes, and it's not easy to implement satisfactorily. However, I am hoping to add this into the upcoming plugin. So please look forward to that!

Thanks again!

That's a good idea! I can add it to my very long todo list. ;) But I like that suggestion! If I can't implement it in this current plugin, I'll look into adding something like this into the upcoming plugin.

As for the NRSV, yes, I feel your pain. Support for specific Bible versions has been the most requested feature since the plugin came out. Unfortunately, copyright really ties our hands down. :(

Anyway, thanks for the kind words and suggestion!

This probably comes down to knowing CSS, but is it possible to edit a theme and have an image as the background? We occasionally have "themes", like we will for mothers day. They come with some lower thirds graphics. I'd love to change the background to an image. Thanks in advance!

(I run the tech at our small church but a lot of this is very new to me, so bear with me!)

I can't seem to find the folder to put the image in that CSS would pull from. It might not be possible with this plugin. If not, that's fine too! I tried to load the HTML for the dock in my browser and edit it that way. I was able to see the folders and the CSS, JS, and HTML scripts but couldn't add the image. Thanks in advance!

Hi!

It is possible to use a background image for a theme instead of a color, and a couple of our themes in our theme packs even made use of this. However, this is complicated, and it requires decent knowledge of CSS as well as trial and error to make it look right.

I'll help as best as I can, but keep in mind that a lot of stuff around images are contextual, which means that not everything I write may apply to your case.

First, it looks like you are having trouble referencing the image within your CSS. Unfortunately, as you noted, linking images will not work due to technical limitations (that would require a server). Instead, you will need to embed your image as a data URL. This is also the same technique we use in our theme packs.

So what you want to do is to first convert your image file to a long string of Base64 text. There are many online tools that can do this; here is one example:

https://dopiaza.org/tools/datauri/index.php

Here is an example of the first few characters of a converted PNG image (the three dots represent the rest of the very long image):

data:image/png;base64,...

The good news is that you can copy the data URL and paste it directly into your CSS, though you will need to wrap it in the url() function. For example:

background-image: url("data:image/png;base64,...");

As for editing process, you can use the embedded theme editor. While editing the CSS, you can always hit Ctrl + S to save and immediately apply your edits to the browser source, which should make iterating through your design easier. But feel free to use whatever works for you!

Feel free to ask me if you have any other questions. Thanks for your support and patience!

Hi!

I don't understand what you mean. I can only guess your email from your username SmithvilleAG, but if my guess is right, you emailed us twice: once on October 2 and once on October 4, and we replied you each time. However, you never replied us back.

January 2024 - Church Plugin Sneak Peek (Song Theme Editor)

Hi, everyone!

First off, a belated Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from us at Firstfruits Studio! Apologies for the very late greetings, but in between church work and general busyness on the upcoming church plugin, it was a bit tricky to find the time for well wishes. Indeed, it has been a very long time since our last public message here, and this post aims to rectify that. :)

The good news is that I have been very hard at work on the upcoming church plugin, and after receiving an...

Hi there!

Thanks for your interest!

We currently do not have any plans to add more Bibles to the free online version. This is because of the negative impact on loading times. However, the Coffee Version does support custom Bibles.

Thanks again for reaching out.

Kind regards,
Firstfruits Studio
