Hi Everybody,
I am very new to using OBS (Silicon) on my M1 16' MBP and have a problem with the aspect ratio of the recorded screen capture.
I am trying to display capture a second monitor (resolution 1920x1080), and my main monitor, which is my MBP laptop, has a resolution of 3546x2234. I guess in this case, since I am trying to display capture the second monitor, I should set both Bass Resolution and Output Resolution to 1920x1080 (screenshot 1) in the OBS Video setting, right? It should have nothing to do with the resolution of the main monitor (laptop)?
But when I tried to do that, made sure both Bass Resolution and Output Resolution are matching to 1920x1080. The resulting screen capture video is compressed horizontally, so subjects in the video are taller and thinner than usual. I found out that I have to set the Bass Resolution to 3546x2234 (screenshot 2) in order to get a properly adjusted aspect ratio in the screen recording, and the Output Resolution doesn't seem to even matter since all the recordings seem to have a resolution of 3546x2170 no matter what the Output Resolution is.
Could this be a bug in the application? Or did I miss any settings in OBS? Does this mean I always have to set my Canvas Resolution to 3546x2234 for screen capture?
I also made sure that the display in OBS is Fit to Screen. But there are always black bars above and below the subjects in the recording if I record the 1080p monitor with a Canvas Resolution of 3546x2234. But I guess this is normal, since the Canvas Resolution has a larger resolution than the 1080p monitor? I tried to drag the "red frame" (sorry, don't what they are called officially) to exactly match the subject in OBS, but the top and bottom black space still exist in the final screen capture. But should OBS only record the area within red frame?
If anyone has any insights or ideas, could you please let me know.
Thank you so much in advance and for reading this question!
