Question / Help What did I do wrong? (Game Capture related)

I've been trying to get Open Broadcaster Software to use Game Capture, but ended up with it crashing the game, Dark Souls the moment I named it as a source. Is there some way I could fix it or some ways to troubleshoot it?

I've tried the HotKey and the manual selection of the source, but ended up with the same result. I know it was OBS that was crashing the game because the game crashed as soon as I either pressed the HotKey and then select it manually after trying again without the HotKey. I ended up stuck with the Monitor Capture function to be able to play the game.

On the side note; is there any advice on how to get better synchronization between OBS and the stream on Twitch.tv? I was following Twitch's recommendation, but I ended up ahead of the stream while having frequent disconnects on the stream until the channel pretty much gave up and not bring it back up. Not have to be perfect, but it is unsettling to see how far behind any viewer would be because of the disconnection issue.

Are you using the DSFix or ever had it installed for Dark Souls? Remove it.
If that does not help, please post us a log file, to see if we can spot any error.

For the twitch problems, your description is a bit confusing. In general you have to expect a 20-30 second delay while streaming to twitch.tv. Thats because of the way their service works currently. Other services like hitbox.tv provide a more instant stream with less delay.

The DSFix is designed to prevent the more crippling hacks from happening on my end, Jack. Without it will expose me to problems with other players that would illegally reset my character statistics down to 1 and keep my Soul Level at 125 at most; if considering over 100,999 souls/experience points after 3,982,865 souls/experience points to get back on my feet with no weapon available for use or hours to get back to where I was, DSFix is a mandatory addition for the PC version of Dark Souls.

I retrieved the log so you can look at them. I hope there would be a way without exposing me to "hacking" (or technically using a trainer program that can affect both host, players and environment, but at an abusive degree instead of using them to get necessary items like Cracked Red Eye Orb or Humanity for multiplayer access into PvP.)

For the 20-30 second delay on twitch, could the "Delay (seconds)" function in Broadcast Settings be useful for that, or would it just add another 20-30 second before it starts streaming?

Configure DSfix to run in borderless windowed mode, enable Aero and use window capture instead. DSfix and game capture don't work well together.

The 20-30 seconds delay is a side effect of Twitch's streaming platform and there's nothing you can do on your end to reduce it further.

Yep. Everyone hates HLS except Twitch's accountant. We just get to deal with it.

Funny part was, even when we only had 4-6 seconds of delay under RTMP, people were STILL complaining about it, expecting streaming to be instantaneous.
