Question / Help Webcam freezes, game won't show

I'm trying to record my gameplay and i can get the webcam over the game, but the actual game won't show. It's either a black screen or the OBS window is in front of the game. Then when I click on the game itself while OBS is recording, both my webcam and the "game" freeze and only the sound can be heard. I'm fairly new to the software so any help would be awesome! Thanks!
