Question / Help Using recommended settings in "High Quality Local Recording" guide...

Here's my log: https://gist.github.com/989a713cc00d1f42b42e

My question is, I'm still getting a lot of "High Encoding" problems, and in case a LOT of FPS drop. This game was Final Fantasy 3... Is there a setting I need to change, or is there a part I need to upgrade? I saw in that guide that it said "won't work with AMD, Nvida, NSync (or something like that), in which I have an AMD... I figure the AMD is the problem, so if that's the case what's a good recommended upgrade for me to get that could encode 1080, 30FPS better, and also be able to handle Skype and game capture so I can record my co-op projects without high encoding...

Your system is not likely to be able to handle OBS and the game at the same time.

Processor limitation.

So what proccessor / CPU would you recommend for 1080p 30 FPS, to record PC games (and potentially Skype) and then Console games + skype smoothly?

I believe I have a "MSI a78m-e35" motherboard, so what's a recommeneded one that would fit on that? (Sorry, I'm a huge PC noob / scrub)

For local recording, use the VCE build of OBS (which will use your R7 200 series GPU instead of your CPU. or upgrade to OBS Multiplatform. both will work with local recording up to 1080@30 when using VCE instead of x264.

OBS fork with VCE support:

OBS Multiplatform:

Okay, so I downloaded the first list (OBS fork with VCE support), did what that page said, and when I tried to preview stream in Final Fantasy 3, my computer crashed / blue screened. Obviously I can't get a log, because I can't get a recording or a preview, so I uploaded my settings in an IMGUR album (link below). I have my Encoding settings, my Advanced settings, and my AMD VCE Encoder settings.

Hm, so no ideas on the blue screen / freezing&hanging ? :/
buffer 0 does not work with this branch, if local recording, then use no more than the bitrate chart on the main page of that post. match up the buffer and bitrate, uncheck CBR if not already done. bitrate/buffer should both be like 10,000 or 20,000

Unchecked CBR, and made Bitrate and Buffer both 20000. Tried to preview stream, same thing. OBS just starting hanging, and now instead of Blue Screening, it usually messes up one of my monitors, and I have to reset my computer (or go into my AMD control and "reset" the monitor that way) to get it to come back up.

Uninstall drivers with DDU in safemode and restart then reapply 15.10 (newest beta drivers). so far they've been stable for most.

Aww okay I see. That's not going to mess anything up severely is it? The new drivers are available on a website or something?
DDU uninstalls in safemode (highly recommended), then on the next boot you install the new drivers. its the defacto way if doing it now

Start in safe-mode after the uninstall to reinstall right? Or just uninstal in safe mode, reinstall out of safe mode?
I just get scared with stuff like this because I don't want to ruin anything lol. Display Drivers sound important, and for somr eason I think in my mind that uninstalling would make some crazy thing happen.

depending on your set up, you could go down to one monitor during uninstall, but it will be worth it once the old driver is uninstalled correctly.

just run the installer, it will prompt you to go to safemode and run the rest of the installer there. Its pretty simple. Just have the new drivers waiting for the next boot.

uninstalling the display driver just means it uses a vanilla driver until the reinstall happens. running is safemode ensures that the driver you are uninstalling is not in use.

Well, I did all of that, and went in to try and preview a recording again. Same thing, OBS froze, both screens went black for a couple seconds, then it comes back with "Display driver stopped working as has recovered".

Unsure if this makes any difference but here's what I tried:

Obs (without VCE support) on my old recording settings and then the new VCE profile. Both previewed fine, no problems (previewed a game that wasn't open for these tests).

I then went into OBS with VCE, and tried my old / initial recording settings, previewed just fine, but went to VCE profile and then the problem happened.

What driver did you upgrade to? and which GPU do you have again?
