Question / Help Unique Sound Issue in OBS (solved)

Hello,

Yesterday I experienced a sound issue with my stream / OBS that I have never experienced before. Generally I have no issues with OBS playing my music or in game sound to my stream flawlessly. I've even been told that sometimes the music is too loud and turned the OBS sound receiver down to 20%. However, yesterday no in game sound or music could be heard even though OBS was "receiving" sound. I upped the volume bar in OBS to 100% and nothing changed, the sound wasn't being received anymore. The only change from my normal OBS usage while streaming is that I was running Teamspeak 3. No settings were changed from my previous stream where viewers could hear in game music / out of game music.

I only use sound through my headphones, so selecting the correct device isn't the issue. However, I did notice when I preview stream the OBS sound bar fluctuates even when no sound is being played. As if it is receiving sound but nothing is technically playing through windows.

Here is an example:
1. Spotify sound is 100% in the windows volume bar + 50% in the Spotify application.
2. OBS sound is set to 100%
3. No sound is heard.

1. Spotify sound is 100% in the windows volume bar + 100% in the Spotify application.
2. OBS sound is set 100%
3. The music is muffled and heard but it sounds like a whisper compared to what I'm hearing in my headphones.

Appreciate any info on the issue. I tried troubleshooting for 2 hours yesterday and managed to get nowhere.

Hmm, I would check that the exclusive mode is turned off for your speaker device:

Apart of that, I am not really sure, post us a logfile maybe, to give a bit more info about your system and obs setup:

Go to Settings > Advanced and UNcheck the "Use input device for desktop audio" box. Then go to Settings > Audio and make sure to select the Speakers device as your Desktop device, instead of Default.

This solved my issue completely. No idea how this got turned on but thank you. Had no issues on today's stream.
