The Debian Buster package for obs-studio is v22 something (though the title bar indicate 0.0.1), and wouldn't stream to FB for me. I was able to follow the Debian compile instructions with a few tweaks.
I had to:
1. get the backport of checkinstall (https://backports.debian.org/Instructions/)
2. run the other dependency install listed (https://obsproject.com/wiki/install-instructions#debian-based-build-directions)
3. then run the install script
At that point obs would not start because of some issue with wayland, so I disabled wayland in /etc/gdm3/daemon.conf by un-commenting WaylandEnable=false. Now it's all working!

Building the obs-studio package worked for me (following these instructions: https://obsproject.com/wiki/install-instructions#debian-based-build-directions
I submitted a bug report to the OBS snap maintainer a while back. I got a notification that it has been fixed. I have not tried it. Someone can test the snap version to confirm
