Question / Help Trying to Stream with a USB Capture Device

Hey All,
I've been having difficulties streaming, I was getting the "High Encoding" warning and maxing out my CPU on my machine making most games unplayable and the stream really choppy - I tried to use the GPU instead but no matter what I tried the AMD vce just crashed my drivers and subsequently crashed OBS.
So I looked into some options, without wanting to completely replace my CPU & Mobo/Graphics Card I saw that I could get a capture card to capture one of my monitors to then stream, thus reducing my CPU load. The capture card I got was :

I had troubles getting it to work with OBS, but I expected this, I have posted into the very long thread of red screen complaints and have gone to option 2 - I have a second PC, so what I intended to to was to use the built in software (VivaStation) to view what was being captured fullscreen on the second PC, then I'd merely have to monitor/window capture what was being shown to stream. I understand this is less than ideal but I'm trying to get SOMETHING so I can stream ASAP, my issue now is that when I try and monitor/window capture the software it appears as a black screen/box, if I reduce the size of the software viewer the box gets smaller and I can see the rest of the desktop fine.

Anyone able to give me some advice on how I get the monitor capture to show whats displayed on the software instead of just a black box? Or even how I might get the capture card to work directly with OBS?

I'd really appreciate any help you can give.

ps. despite the fact that the capture device is a USB 2 device the Software is showing a very crisp HD view of my main PC - really impressed with it, if only I can now stream it :P

When using video capture device on the streaming PC, you should close out the software that came with your capture card and only use the video capture device source. remove all game captures and anything else.

I don't know how much it will help, since I think my gamecap card isn't compatible with OBS yet, which is why I am trying to use the Window/Monitor capture as I described above and that doesn't necessarily seem like an OBS issue per se but some kind of compatability issue - I read that laptop's can have that issue but since I'm on a PC not sure what the cause of my issue could be.

yeah, close out the capture card software or anything else displaying the capture card then try again to add it to OBS as a video capture device, that error sometimes occurs when the video is already being displayed.

remove all game and monitor captures as well.

I meant I get the red screen without any other gamecap software on, currently trying to display the gamecard as a global source which is a "Video Capture Device" on it's own, nothing else!
Infact the only thing running on the streaming pc is OBS and chrome at the moment.

:/ If you are able to see it in the list, you could try changing the resolution and/or fps until it shows up. If not, then post here in hopes that support can eventually be added. Sorry for the confusion.

No problem, I've already posted there - which is why I was asking for help with using a monitor or windows capture, in the mean time ^^. I've tried to vary the resolutions and had no such luck hopefully the dev gets to it eventually :)
In the meantime if anyone has any advice on using a windows/monitor cap that would be very helpful!
