Hello there,
So I have this ongoing issue that I have scoured the net for and the only fix I have found is not suitable. Let me explain.
I am using a single PC setup for streaming/replay buffering. Specs are 3080ti, 5800x, 16gb ram 3200hz. Using Nvenc New. So, fairly high end. P.s I have WIndows 11 installed now but this issue was also present in Windows 10. I play mainly fast paced games - Apex Legends, COD, OW etc.
I have 2 monitors - 1 main monitor for gaming (240hz) and a secondary monitor to display OBS (60hz only and different brand).
I prefer to display OBS on the second monitor so I can monitor performance, chat, stream stats etc.
However, using OBS on the second monitor causes mini stutters (every few seconds - maybe every 20-30 seconds) on the game I am playing on the main monitor.
I have read around forums that a lot of people are having this issue and it boils down to OBS and Windows going haywire with games when there are 2 different monitor refresh rates - at least that is what people have come to conclude. The only way to fix this (I've tried almost everything around the web) is to move OBS into the main monitor and sure enough the stutter is gone in my games. However, this is counter-intuitive as I can no longer monitor OBS as I can't see it.
I note that OBS studio runs fine with no problems - it records fine and it streams fine too. So a log file likely isn't going to show any problems here. The issue is with game stutter due to OBS being displayed on the second monitor.
Is this issue known to the OBS devs?
Note the other "fixes" I have tried but they didn't work include:
-Limiting the game capture frame in the source
-Using display capture instead
-Changing power plans (high, performance etc).
-Changing numerous Nvidia control panel settings - from scaling to GPU to all the different graphical settings.
-Turning on/off Gsyn/Vsync
-Turning on/off hardware acceleration in OBS
-Changing priorities in OBS
-Capping in game frame rates
-Turning on nvidia reflex
-Turning on/off hardware rescheduling
-Running OBS in admin mode
-Running the game in admin mode
-Turning on/off Rebar/SAM
-Disabled preview in OBS
Hoping the devs can somehow get to the bottom of this! Thanks so much for reading my lengthy post.
