Tally Light Software - display tally lights for active sources or scenes in OBS

I have created a free tally light solution that is compatible with OBS (and other sources). It is designed to let you configure multiple incoming tally sources like OBS or a video switcher (ATEM, Carbonite, etc.), and aggregate them together. You can view tally output on a browser, phone, or tablet, and you can use blink(1) USB lights on a Pi Zero for tally over Wifi. It also supports GPO output, contact closure relays, etc. In order to work with OBS, it requires the websocket plugin.

Hey Joseph, very cool project! I love how cross-platform you have made it. I think it is awesome that you have open-sourced your project. Have you seen a lot of interest and use for your software so far?

I designed and built something similar for my own purposes using a closed-loop wired serial interface. I am considering open-sourcing my project as well. Here's a link to a demo of my tally light project in action.

I designed mine to be wired because I had conerns of Wi-Fi interference and latency. Have you seen good reliability over Wi-Fi?

Let me know if I can contribute in any way to your project, or if we can collaborate somehow.

Last week I was asked if there is a possibility for the speaker to check which camera is active... We use 2 PTZOptics Cameras (30x, NDI, latest model), controlled via obs. I found out that there is a possibility via VISCA Commands to use the LEDs from the camery as tally.
Tally OFF: 81 0A 02 02 03 FF
Tally BLINK: 81 0A 02 02 01 FF
Tally ON: 81 0A 02 02 02 FF

Can you add this output possibilty to your tally-plugin? That would be great :-) [I read the little description and could not find anything using VISCA/PTZCameras as output]

Thanks in advance,

Christian

Hi Joseph,
Thank you for your great project!
We are a cultural association and since Corona we have been doing many cultural events as live streams.
We use three cameras and OBS Studio. Now we are planning to buy a Datavideo ITC-100 which has two tally inputs (https://www.datavideo.com/us/product/ITC-100). The belt packs each have a two-colour tally light.
Do you have any experience in setting this up?
Thank you!
Cheers,
Carsten

Hi Matt!
Unfortunately your link says: " The requested file is no longer available!" :-(

Hi Carsten,

Please see my GitHub, I have a basic demo video there, plus all the source code and 3D files: https://github.com/mattv8/obs-wired-tally.

Here's my OBS forum project post: https://obsproject.com/forum/resour...-for-obs-arduino-rgb-leds-obs-websocket.1079/

Here's a video I quickly made illustrating how my tally lamps work by source rather than by scene in OBS: https://photos.app.goo.gl/kqT6DxCsHpvZyUQ76

Right now my project only supports OBS but I'm working on bringing in functionality with JosephAdam's TallyArbiter so it will work with a number of different sources. Stay tuned on that by keeping an eye on my GitHub or OBS forum post.

josephdadams updated Tally Light Software with a new update entry:

Version 1.5 is now available

Many updates have been done since I last posted here about Version 1.3. You can find all the details at the Github link or at www.tallyarbiter.com

Some of the highlights of 1.4 and 1.5:
  • New interface built with Bootstrap
  • Improved support for Blackmagic ATEM
  • The GUI has been revamped with all internal socket.io calls. The REST API still exists, but this will be more streamlined.
  • A Generic TCP Device Action has been added: Now you...

CarstenFabian, Sorry for just now replying to this. I somehow got behind on these messages, and I apologize. I do recall seeing where someone integrated Tally Arbiter with their DataVideo ITC-100. https://www.facebook.com/groups/1572662719665042/permalink/2726468657617770

Hope this helps!

just installed and running perfectly as a node on OSX 10.15.7 but can't get it to install as a service. Followed the directions in the readme but it keeps coming back "permission denied" what am I missing? (sorry I'm horrible at this whole coding thing)

Re: Tally Arbiter v2.0

Is there any way to disable the Preview / Program swap in OBS when using studio mode? Or perhaps light the Program only?

Thanks in advance!
