Hello all,
My question here is how exactly do I get Quality game sound from my elgato without having a nasty echo from my obs. Im running astros with mix amp pro from my computer and an optical from a ps4 and xbox one (what i use switches). The problem im having is that the only way to get good sound from the game is to go into properties on the Elgato in sources and have the output audio to desktop checked. The sound is wonderful and it works but the problem is that while obs is running there is an echo of everything im hearing from my mixamp (because my audio is offset to work with the video from webcam and elgato). If i use my mixer to mute the obs the sound also goes away as well. What do i do to fix this issue so im hearing things from skype and steam chat as well as game sound and the local recording also hear what i hear but dont send echos to my headset as well?

send the elgato audio to stream only and get your own sound from your mixer. now that sucks but the card need some time to capture but u need direct feedback to play, i had the same problem and the solutions are not really beautiful.

this is elgatos solution

u can use voicemeterr or virtual audio cable to setup and mix with virtual audio devices

after long search and many cables i endet at

for me it was the best choice cause i have all my hardware pc/consoles connectet to this baby and now i can split or mix all channels single. i dont like many cables ^^ sry man this are not the best fixes for this. anyways gl...

if i set the sound to stream only i get no sound what at all from the game play.
like in obs while its running the game sound seems to be recording but isnt. that is the problem when i have it set to desktop it gets an echo. besides these is there anyway to fix that?

sadly i think not or only other complicated things.that is what i meaned, the card need 1-2 seconds to capture the data, (video+audio) thats not a problem for the stream or record.but it is fix and not possible to change. the hdmi is a realtime passthrough + the digital outs from your consoles are the only ways to get the sound simultan with the controller actions which is a MUST for nice gameplay, so u can use a hdmi splitter or digi/optical to get the realtime sound to obs, now u have a video delay to your stream ^^ u can use a virtual hdmi audio device + use stereomix when u have realtek soundcard dk u have expierience with that.

this virtual devices are things like voicemeter and vaudiocable, when yur tv has an audio out, u can also use this for your headset but this capps the viewer contact and pc musik. at least i think u buyed the hd60 to connect all consoles to obs and enjoy gameplay with your streaming community, same like me 2 or 3 months ago so u are not alone ^^ so i can only say no bro :( no fix. a really bad shit for one of the best capture cards at moment, i was really pissed too but u get this, dont worrie. it only takes time and money + cables haha ^^ the cheapest and fastest way u have is

it works good with analog sound for u and spaghetti cables around u ^^ gl with that man......

So there is no way to mute OBS to my A40's without muting it on the desktop? Because thats all i need. I use steam to chat with my friends when i play (or skype) and obs records my voice fine and no latency because ive set everything up on obs to work in unison. I just dont want to hear obs in my headset while i play and if i set it to stream only my video files captured by obs wont have audio.

The problem i have is basically, this because idk if you (Lollo) are completely understanding me, To get audio from the Elgato HD60 to record in OBS (not streaming just recording to MP4 files for uploading to youtube) i have to set the Properties on the Elgato in the sources, to desktop. This causes OBS to export the sound coming from the Elgato to the speakers or headset or any audio device selected. With that being said im using Astro 40's to play my games with as well as communicate with my friends through the PC. But because of the way i have to set up the latency of audio to work with my webcam and game simultaneously its set to a 900ms buffer. So while i play my games i hear the sound coming from the mix amp, connected to my system via optical cable but because my mix amp is also connected to the pc (it has my microphone i use to record with as well as communicate with) im hearing the latent sounds coming from OBS as well. If i mute my OBS in the windows audio mixer it then takes away the game sound thats being recorded by OBS. I just need to Record gameplay, webcam and steam chat/skype all at once with no echo. Just local recordings not streams.

ohps sry,
yea then i think, deactivate hdmi output sound on your console, optical only to mixer. you get sound to headphones from mixer. mic to pc to obs and mixer line out maybe cinch klinke to elgato 3,5 klinke in. then in obs on elgato gamecapture settings, audio output to stream only.

now elgato is splittet from your desktop audio devices and your bug should be fixed when i understood u now ^^

Ok!!!!!!!!!!!! I fixed it using different settings completely.
For anybody who is going to be using Astro A40's (A50's probably same situation) with a mix amp and want sound from both computer and game at the same time who want to record. This is who you set it up. If youre having the problems i was. DO NOT USE GLOBAL AUDIO OFFSET TO FIX MIC LATENCY. This was my issue and you can manually offset mic delay in the audio tab where you select the mic you want to use. This will allow you to then just buffer your webcam and everything will work flawlessly. you can record and no problems will arise. Some people will tell you to use Global offset on in advanced tab to fix the latency but this causes more issues than it solves.

This is what 99% of others already do :)
