I'll try keep this short and sweet.

Xbox gamer turned streamer(ish)

I've been streaming using various methods, Xbox built in stream options via Streamlabs, Twitch, TikTok but wanted to try and take things a bit more seriously and started to buy some proper gear.

Now i'm running and Acer Nitro 5 Laptop with I5 processor, its about 6 years old so it's time for an upgrade but before I take the plunge on a decent PC setup, I want to make sure I can actual setup and function properly.

I currently have an Xbox Series X which I have somewhat successfully connected to a RODE STREAMER X capture card. I have wireless Steelseries Arctis Nova Pro headset but cannot get this to connect at all to the Streamer x so I have wired headphones connected to the Streamer X(proper microphone may or may not follow)

I want to use OBS Studio with a multistream option via Restream.io. I can and have set this up OK so this isnt my issue.

I have the webcam source ticked, the streamer x HDMI input sorted for visuals but I cannot for the life of me get the audio streams set up correctly.

I have tried multiple different input options from Streamer x HDMI input, RODE Unify chat input, stream input and various combinations of such but there is ZERO sound coming through onto any streams I have tried. I am not even getting the audio mixer scroll bar to show any input in OBS. I am getting headphone input being recognised in RODE Unify for chat and the HDMI is recognising volume, also in Unify.

I have trusted Google too much and have messed about with so many settings in OBS/Unify/Laptop system settings etc that I dont know where the base line is anymore.

Can anyone please offer some help and guidance before I lose the plot and just give up trying :( ?

Many thanks in advance.

Don't know how to help you, but don't give up.

The problem is Windows... basically. Which means you have to get sophisticated in terms of knowing what is going on, and how to work-around or accept various limitations.

*IF* you have Desktop Audio as a Source, you are bound to have issue due to Audio echos, inability to selectively choose certain audio inputs vs others. I'm a fan of reading well reviewed/edited content, so realtive recent books for basics work better for me

Years ago, I compiled this list of Audio related articles. Some things have changed, but not all that much (some of the Win11 changes aren't fully baked at Operating System level, so beware). OBS Audio related articles
At a more basic level... have you hooked up the HDMI output you are using to capture, say to a TV, and confirmed there is audio on that channel?
