Question / Help Stream Engine doesn't show up in OBS

Hey,

I have a 2 PC setup and I am using the Avermedia LGP Lite capture card. If there would be an Avermedia forum I would post this question over there but it seems like they no longer have one, so I will post my question here.

I'm using the VCE version of OBS which does not install OBS on your computer, you just run it straight from the downloaded folder and I think that wheny you're installing the Avermedia drivers they are searching for the default OBS folder, but as I haven't really installed OBS it won't be found in the normal location (C:\Programs\OBS) so I guess the Avermedia fails to install the drivers for OBS.

I don't know, that's just my theory because if I install the normal OBS and then install the Avermedia drivers, then I am able to choose Stream Engine as video capture device. But since I am not using the normal OBS version I think the Avermedia drivers fails for my "uninstalled" OBS.

So how do I fix this? I have tried to install normal OBS into the normal location (C:\Programs\OBS), then remove all the installed OBS files and put my "uninstalled OBS's" files in the normal OBS install location. It didn't work.

Make sure you are running the 32bit version, as the 64bit version will not detect the Stream Engine.

Oh, I've been using the 64bit version. Tried with the 32bit but the Stream Engine option is not there. I can see the AVerMedia C835 Capture option though.

After a few computer restarts it's working. Thank you very much sir!

While we're on it, do you know how I could get the follower alert sound from the streaming PC to the gaming PC?

well you can use one in OBS for your viewers to see/hear but if you want one for you to hear/see won''t that be annoying to viewers on hearing another sound and no alert?

how far away is the streaming pc to gaming pc? maybe subalert https://obsproject.com/forum/threads/subalert.17242/ could work for you.

Yes, I could run the alert script on both the PC and streaming PC, but then I will have problems with audio syncing. It needs to be synced. How do every streamer who uses a streaming PC handle this?

they just run it on the streaming pc either within obs or through a program/app. most time the streaming pc is right next to them so they can see who followed and thank them.

I guess I could do that but I will definitely miss some notifications here and there.

I miss alot most times but it is kind of a ok thing in the end because most viewers are lurkers and don't like to be called out. So if i see someone new to the stream talking in chat, i welcome them and whatnot. Think that is abit more then saying hey everyone that comes in and follows.

I'm not okay with missing people. What if you miss subscribers..

Hi Darker (or others using LGP lite)
I have a problem with my LGP lite, when it's used as a global source
The LGP lite works very well. But if I create it as a global source it freezes when I switch to a different scene and returns to the scene again. I have previously used this setup with no problems (though on another slower PC and LGP (not lite). Does anyone have an idea what could be wrong?

All the best
Jesper
