I‘m trying to get the latency of my stream down as much as possible. (at least to around 2sec)
My stream looks like this OBS(playback of 720p25 h264 file)->SRT->NimbleServer->SLDP player
It works great so far but my latency is around 4-5seconds. (Buffering in sldp player set to 1/1.5sec)
So I‘ve tested OBS -> SRT -> VLC locally on the same machine and the latency is around 3 seconds. Is this what you would expect from a software encoder like OBS or am I missing something?
Ps. The PC is quite a fast I7 with GTX1080TI, using around 3% CPU when streaming
PPs. I have to use the recording SRT feature in OBS, the stream never seems to connect to the nimble server (guide: https://obsproject.com/wiki/Streaming-With-SRT-Protocol)
Any help / pointers would be greatly appreciated
