Seems to be reading the values, yes !

Hm, the error u getting is an error i'm handling myself... it is trying to dispose counters that are created, and it can't dispose one of them so at least 1 should not be able to read values, i think.

Actually as I said before, the number is always 0 even if I'm streaming

Hi there,

Snaz has been extremely useful to me. However I am concerned of one thing. The way that Snaz works by making a live clock and whatnot for obs involves continuously updating a file on disk that obs will then read.

If this is true, will running Snaz in the background shorten the life of SSDs since each time a file is rewritten it wears it out slightly? If yes, how do I avoid shortening SSD life? Is there a way to lower the frequency in which Snaz writes time updates to disk?

Hope to hear from you soon!

Probably. Thats why I have it on my D: drive (hard disk) :)
Better safe than sorry

Hi Secepatnya,

As for the time it is currently not possible to select the interval to write to the textfile.

About your concern ...
This is one of the good reasons why Snaz is writing to text files within the application folder itself and not to the C://Users/[yourname]/... folder. That means of course when u install Snaz on for example D:// (HDD), its ok :)
This is only a possibility when u have more than one drive initially.

The idea is to port Snaz to WPF for more customisation in the future. Creating on/off switches and intervals for each function is on the menu. More twitch stuff will be added to, but this is for incoming months.

To go over the writes limits, a good standard is something like writing 5GB of writes a day for 5 years will degrade your SSD. Remember that a text file here is 1KB. If u hear tips and tricks from SSD, defragmenting your SSD is even bad :)
(NO readers please don't throw rocks at me :), as i said a STANDARD)

I would always recommend people to get a second drive as HDD for lower cost and more size.

But yes at the end of all things, u are definitely better to install it (or any other program that writes allot) on a HDD instead of the SSD!

I believe NOBODY has a SSD-only system, would be crazy :D

Besides amount of data written, I believe the amount of times that you write to disk is important too. But I'm no expert :)

You're probably right Colter, times written will be a factor to of course. But hell :) i'm no expert at SSD either :D

Haha ok.

Yes I do have an SSD-only computer. It's my Windows 8 tablet! It's the Surface Pro (1st gen) so it can run and stream with OBS quite well.

One thing you can do, is making a very small ramdrive so you can store those files there. RAM doesn't wear :)

Good point. I was also thinking of that. ;D

Also, the network counters on Snaz doesn't work on my computer at all. As in, doesn't pick up a single NIC.
