Weird that you weren't able to use it. I guess you did something wrong, but in any case it's not your fault : this means that the documentation is not clear enough. Are you on Windows ?Hi, nice idea for a plugin, have a suggestion and a bug report:
Could it be possible to have in the Shadertastic Settings a way to uncheck the default filters that I know I'll never use (facecam ones mostly), they kind of eat a lot of space in the dropdown
Downloaded the Simplex Noise effect to test and I'm unable 100% to make it appear in the effects list, tried every possible combination of folder/subfolder naming, tried "developper" (typo there :P) mode on and off and the effect does not appear. I'm using OBS 31.1.1 in portable mode, windows 10.
Noticed that whenever I open OBS and try to select a new folder in the plugin settings, it always defaults to "OBS\bin\64bit\" so tried to place the folders there and now it detected the TEMPLATE effect (does it only mirror horizontally the source?) but the "simplex-rev1.filter.shadertastic" one is nowhere to be found so I hit reload to see if it appears and all that did was breaking the TEMPLATE filter, it shows the source in red and a text ERR over it (closing and opening OBS seems to have fixed this and is not breaking again so not sure). Resuming, either the plugin is bugged or I am doing something wrong, but I tried almost every combination possible so no idea.
If you want to, we can take a look together on Discord, or you can place screenshots here, maybe I can pinpoint the problem.
I agree that the dropdown is an issue, but I have no control over OBS UI, I would have used something different if I could.
That is - among other reasons - why the web library exists: to avoid bloating the effects in the base plugin.
I will think about a better solution, I actually already have an idea on how to make this better, it's already on the roadmap.
By the way, you should probably not use the developer mode if you're not creating your own effects. This takes a toll on performance, especially with the transitions. The reload button you mention is there to reload the effect you selected, not to reload the whole list.
I'm working on it, but I must admit it's difficult to make progress I would probably need help from other people to make sure it is clear enough.Mmmm looks like if i delete the shadertastic filter from the source item and re-add it AND if the filter files I downloaded from your website are OUTSIDE of the effect folder (makes no sense... if intended, wouldn't that be kinda untidy? mixing effect and transition files in the same folder), then they do appear and work... so I assume the reloading function of the effect is what it's broken, the filter is not updating with the new list of effects even if you reload with the button or reopen OBS. Hope this helps find the issue.
On other note, any updates on the docs? Filter and Transition References in particular
No it's not I'm just currently in the process of refactoring things, and adding some new features. This takes time, but I think you will like it.Is the project dead?
(Spoilers: you will be soon capable of using the previous frames in the effects. This opens the door for much more advanced transitions. More coming soon I hope)
