Question / Help Screen Tearing On FIFA 15 When OBS Is Open , Recording Or Streaming

So never had any issues with OBS when i have been streaming for the last 6-7 months , Got a great PC for streaming.

FIFA 15 has just come out and i am wanting to stream it as much as possible but when i am playing a game i just get a load of Screen tearing, i have don't some testing today to try and pin point the issue with OBS & FIFA 15

So my PC Spec

  • MOBO : Asus Z87-K USB3.0 Motherboard
  • CPU : Intel Haswell i7 4770k 4.3GHz Overclocked
  • CPU Fan : Xigmatek Gaia SD1283 Silent Heatpipe
  • MEMORY : 16GB Corsair Vengeance LP DDR3 1600MHz
  • POWER SUPPLY : Corsair CX750M - 750 WATT
  • VIDEO CARD : Nvidia GeForce GTX 770 Superclocked 2GB GDDR5
  • HDDs/Optical drives : 1tb Sata Hard Drive
  • O/S : Win 7 64bit
  • Case : Corsair Carbide Series 300R CC-9011017-Windowed Gaming Case - Black
  • Head Set : Turtle Beach PX3
  • Monitors : 2x NEC AccuSync AS221WM - 22 Inch


FIFA 15 Set To 60FPS
When playing FIFA 15 without OBS Open , Recording or Streaming FIFA 15 is working 100% no screen tearing at all.
When playing FIFA 15 with OBS Open, Recording or Streaming FIFA15 when playing give screen tearing

FIFA 15 Set To No Limit On FPS
When playing FIFA 15 without OBS Open , Recording or Streaming FIFA 15 is working 100% no screen tearing at all.
When playing FIFA 15 with OBS Open, Recording or Streaming FIFA15 when playing give screen tearing, Crashing OBS & Game.

I kinda thought this was a issue with my video card to start with and turned vsync on in Nividea settings for the game , even same with vsync off, but now know its OBS that's been doing the issues since i have testing with and without OBS , Just Opening OBS up make the game screen tear


Any help on a fix or if this is a bug that will be fixed let me know , wanting to get back to my streaming since the game is new.

I will like to note that no other game has issues but FIFA 15 when OBS is open , recording or streaming

Is fifa running fullscreen, or in a borderless/windowed mode? First thing I note is that you have aero disabled, which is a notorious cause of screen tearing, especially with windowed/borderless games. I would recommend enabling aero if you're not using monitor capture.

I run it in borderless as its easy to use when streaming with 2 screens , ok i have unticked aero so its enabled and will test it , will get back to you in a bit.

Looks like Disabling Aero works , not getting screen tearing no more. I take it Enabling Aero is for Capture Cards then?

If your on PC before you hit play the game go in settings and you will see full screen or windowed , windowed is borderless.
