Glad your up and running again. I'm still having the same issue. Did you do anything different at all?
I don't think so.

It crashed again today for the first time. It must have something to do with ps2 being updated. (I changed the source app to the new version off the game.)

But after starting the game again, (I waited a few mins before I started to record) it worked.

Didn't work. Deleted the old source started up planet side and added a new source. Waited a few minutes to stream, and PS2 still disappeared right after I clicked preview.

Ok turns out it was an issue with my SLI config. My cards were not set up properly. PlanetSide 2 is no longer shutting down when I start up the stream.

Have been trying to figure out a reason causing this problem and I finally tracked it down to these two windows updates:

Update for Windows 8.1 for x64-based Systems (KB2962409)
Update for Windows 8.1 for x64-based Systems (KB2955164)

Which are the update rollups for May and June... so yeah it's propably caused by the DX9 changes. The recent OBS update just didn't help.

Having either one installed caused the problem to occure.

So I'm going to continue without these updates for now but my worries are that the July update will break it again.

i was having the same issue as everyone else, i had windows 8 start menu (uninstalled it) that didn't fix it, so i uninstalled these two updates and it works like a dream now. i dont know what those updates are but getting rid of them fixed my issue. thank you again to everyone for your imput

Not sure if uninstall those updates is a good idea, they have a lot bugfixes, hope another solution will be found.

Temporary Fix: WARNING: NEED DECENT COMPUTER.
Step 1: Download xsplit broadcaster.
Step 2: Game Capture Planetside 2.
Step 3: Using OBS, window capture xsplit (use the specific region thing to only get the game).
Step 4: Open the game, it will appear on xsplit which will then show it on OBS.

Any word on this? It seems to primarily be a problem on Windows 8.1 with the 64-bit client. Right now I can run Game Capture by forcing Planetside to open the 32-bit client, but it crashes if I try to do 64-bit. 64-bit is much more stable than 32-bit and I'd like to be able to use that

Also having issues with Planetside 2 and OBS game capture mode.

Only started happening about 2-3 weeks ago, game capture works great in 32bit mode of the game but 32bit mode of PS2 is very unstable

OBS NEEDS A FIX ASAP!!!!!!

Something with OBS method of game capture hooking to Planetside 2 64bit client is causing this issue.

Users affected are windows 8.1 running the latest windows updates.

I humbly request OBS devs look into this issue as I am a big decent streamer for Planetside 2 and this issue has caused me to not being able to stream at all.
