Question / Help Overly Blurry Stream at: 3800kbps 720p 30fps

Here is something you guys have probably never heard of before;
Stream looks fine when i stand still but as soon as i move everything gets blurry and heavy pixelation starts.

I have read a couple of the threads on here and in most cases it's the bitrate that is too low.
As for me, i've streamed at 3500 (yes i know twitch "limits" there) and now i am at 3800kbps and STILL blurry.

I have seen other streamers with far less bitrate and their streams dont show the pixelation i get.

  • Quick setup (full log below):
Resolution: 1920x1080
FPS: 60
Bitrate: 3800 kbps
Buffer: 8500 kbits
x246 CPU Preset: Faster
CBR: On
CBR Padding: On
CFR: On
Keyint: 240 (note: This actually looks better, less blurry than 120)
Encoding Profile: Main
Scene Buffering Time: 700

  • Things I have already tried to change and fiddle with to see if there would be any change in motion quality:
Downscale to 720p
Change fps to 30 in both 1080p and 720p
Buffer 3800 (same as bitrate)
Quality: 8 (no clear difference)
Quality: 5 (no clear difference)
Keyint: 120 & 60 for 60fps and 30fps

  • Here is an example of a stream.

Note especially the grass and trees.

I have seen people (non partnered) on twitch who stream this game and you can see the grass more clearly than in mine.
I would think 3800kbps for a downscaled 720p 30/60fps stream would make it better than this?
What am i missing here? Could it be the 1080p Source?

well 1080p60 isnt recommended at all and to sustain a "decent" quality on twitch you would have to stream with something crazy like a 10-15k bitrate.

if you want to stream with 60 fps go with 720p60 with a 3k bitrate your cpu shouldnt have problems with a slower preset like faster or even fast but it depends on what game you are playing.

the only person who was streaming 1080p60 with a decent quality in a high motion game was widgitybear but he was still running 4500 bitrate on medium preset with an dedicated streaming machine which had an dual xeon setup and one of those xeons already costs more than your whole system.

1080p60 works for games like league or dota at 3500bitrate but thats pretty much it

The bitrate you're using would barely make a 1080p30 stream of DayZ look decent due to (among other things) all of the grass, which wreaks havoc on the encoder. Flash also handles 1080p60 very poorly which means viewers won't see a smooth stream anyway unless they use a program like Livestreamer to dump it into VLC. Regarding widgitybear, despite all the money he invested in his hardware his stream still looked and played back horribly on the Twitch website. You would be wise to steer clear of 1080p60 altogether.
